Now that we are into Summer on the "Right Coast," when will we see the first Bermuda High setup?! Last year, my calendar shows June 26 as the first one which kicked off a string of SW windy days, including fuel for the 2008 Hatteras LoopFest LoopOff! Another one ramped up a week later in July 08!

Hopefully, the first summer Bermuda High of 2009 will arrive soon!

Patiently waiting...

Back door cold front is supposed to clear tonight, yet malinger Tuesday. We've seen some really scorching W and NW down here in FL. Every year is slightly off "normal." My gear keeps getting better and better, yet the wx keeps throwing me curve balls, damn it. Oh, for the wind we had in the 80's.... I can remember sailing my M Ecstacy with a 4.0 for 16 days in Oct one year!

Or are the models simply teasing us again?!

Damn, I am so ready for some strong summer OBX SW wind! Waves would be awesome too!

Come on Mom Nature..., deliver for us please!

Looking better, but not quite right.

Maybe time for serious beach party/sacrifice.

What we really need is for the Jet stream to move up into Canada which would let warm air to flow back into the NE. Right now it's still sitting over NY. When a low moves over the jet stream we are getting 30 mph west breezes in the adirondacks, which at this time of year is unheard of.
July 8th and it's 70 degrees out. Rolling Eyes

Right Viking. Bermuda High spells little wind here on Cape Cod. I could never understand how anyone could link one to good windsurfing.

Not-so-Swift, let us know when you get your PhD in meteorology and then get back to us. In the meantime, it appears to be only you who connects the Bermuda High to a lack of Cape Cod wind.

The Bermuda High is an anti-cyclone. It brings the SWerly flow that allows the Cape thermal wind machine to work as well as it does. The southern shore of the Cape as well as Buzzards Bay and MV depend on the Bermuda High to receive the killer SWerlies that we all love.

How do you think Kalmus got its fame for killer SW sailing? It's not for the winter sailing when the Bermuda High is absent.

Food for your brain, you hungry guy:

Is it your lifelong mission to spread disinformation? You are a piece of work or, more PRABABLY, a piece in need of work.

Never has so much been offered and so little read. There's an old Indian saying that goes >>No Man Knows the ways of the wind or the Caribou<<. Is that mis-information? Whatever, try reading my Riding with the Moose post on the Sebastian Inlet thread.
