Hi,

I'm heading down to Pt. Judith with my wife and 3 kids for a much needed week long vacation. Are there any windsurf friendly beaches in that area in the middle of the summer? We'll be staying by Roger Wheeler state beach. The kids are young (4, 6, & 8 years old) so my ideal place would be a beach where they could play and I could sail for an hour or two.

Thanks for your help,
Chris

Yes, I dont usually get down that way but Matunuck Beach is windsurf friendly, it is just west, maybe 10-15 min drive. That one is a sure thing. Apparently George's beach is windsurfi friendly but you have to watch out for swimmers on your way out/in...not 100% on that though. It could be just one section. Not seeing a whole lot of wind for this area coming up though...

I have sailed and kited at Roger Wheeler before but the lifeguards were not on duty...Didnt see any signs or anything prohibiting it. check out the RI state website, it will outline if windsurfing is prohibited or not at state beaches.

Thanks for the info. We stayed near Robert Wheeler state beach, so I sailed there for two days (Monday and Thursday) and got to surf a couple of other mornings. All in all a good vacation with the family.

Robert Wheeler state beach was crowded, but I basically launched all the way to the left of the lifeguard stands and the last jetty that they consider their boundry. I stayed outside of the orange buoys and I didn't have any difficulty with them at all.

Thanks for your help,
Chris
