i've been in the gorge for two weeks and, due to the lackluster winds, i'm heading back home to the bay area. tomorrow, sat, shows good wind at sherman with high tide at 7:43 pm. i think i might hit it on the way back down but i don't know tides yet as i just moved to the bay area.

will it be good sailing before high tide? in other words, is tomorrow a strong flood? and does the flood ease a while before it goes slack? or is it strong right up until it goes slack?

THANK YOU to anyone who can help me with this. i've been a gorge guy for a decade and this is my first experience with tides...

the delta can be a real drag on a flood unless it is really windy. on a flood you're fighting the current the whole time. even a light flood can be totally frustratiing.

Well yes, of course. Are you looking at the current graph as well as the tide graph? BTW, right now you want to add about a hour to the iwindsurf numbers. That is, yesterday when the flood was supposed to start about 1:30 pm, I went out at 2:00 in a mild ebb. Flood started about 2:30 and I sailed till 4:00 when lack of wind forced me in. Flood was still pretty mild at that time. Best launch is County Park, as it gives you plenty of alternative landings if you get flooded (access, baja, sign, Rio Viento, powerlines.)
