I was at Bolsa doing SUP and the wind picked up so I went to add a small sail but lifeguard said : NO, NO... that would make it launchiing a vessel from the beach which is not allowed.

Now other side of Jetti kiters were launching but I guess that's "city"?

Anyone knows where I can go play in waves in Huntington area and use sail if winds come up?

thanks, Max

Bolsa Chica is the only beach where windsurfing is banned (thanks to kiters!).

However I do downwinders from Sunset to HB Pier all the time, right through Bolsa Chica. I love to ride inside the surfline (really good for launching off waves), and sometimes get followed by lifeguard trucks (but they can't catch you once you pass the jetty!)

If you want to LEGALLY windsurf with a SUP board in waves, you're best bet would be to launch just north of HB Pier (really consistent waves, but light wind).

Another option would be Sunset Beach at the Jack in the Box on Warner St. There is a hardcore group of windsurfers that are there whenever it is windy. However Sunset usually has smaller waves (but better wind) than HB.

That looks like a fun wave. You're gonna miss that when you move to Davis!

thanks for info, of all beaches I had to pick, Kirk told me the jetty area was a good place to SUP, and parking was easy.

the other side of Jetty where kiters launched, didn't seem to have parking, I'll have to go back and check out parking situation (or if anyone has info.?)

Thanks, Max

PS Saturday was an awesome day for wind...
