Would it work in that bay behind (north) of the West Dennis beach windsurf area? |

I hope you have been trained to teach windsurfing. The effective teaching process is neither intuitive nor obvious to windsurfers not formally taught by a trained instructor.

West Dennis beach is my favorite place to teach people to windsurf. I prefer low tide to teach on the main beach (south) side because it's shallow for a long way out and the water is relatively flat.
If it's high tide take them across the parking lot to the (north) bay. As outcast said the bottom is a little mucky and the beach can be a little crowded with families but it is still a good place to teach. (flat water)
If you don't normally wear booties you may want to consider them for yourself and your student. The crabs biting your bare toes gets pretty annoying.
Hope this helps. |

Mike \m/ | Who trains the instructor's instructor? Pleasant Bay isn't all that close to Dennis, neither is it good IMHO for teaching. Try a fresh water pond like Quequaquet with a shallow bottom. The ponds in Nickerson are kettle lakes which usually have steep sides and deep bottoms. The Bass River might be good in places. I don't know Long pond, but I bet it has some good places. However, a small pond is always better than a large lake or bay. Once your pupil is able to stand on the board and hold the sail, he will probably be blown down wind with no skill to return. |
