Wow!! That thing looks dangerous. I'm going to call Helm when they open and see if they'd be willing to drag that thing to shore with one of their jet skis.

There was a mostly submerged floating log/utility pole type object at Palo Alto yesterday 07/24, very close to a high traffic zone, which luckily was visible enough to be seen if one paid attention and wasn't distracted by something else. But if one wasn't paying attention, it could be nasty.

Wonder ifs the same mutha reported earlier in the week at 3rd
being pushed back & forth by the tides.

South Bay sailors, please be aware.

Umm. You're joking, right? There is no way anyone would find it, even if it were still in the general area.

No, I wasn't kidding, Koogzah, I thought you found it twice, once when you hit it and once when you taped it. But, yeah, now maybe it's been seen in PA, and maybe it can't be found. I'll just drop the issue unless we get more reports on it.

Nope, that was the moment itself. You can see me spin and crash after my fin was ruthlessly taken out.

koozah, couple of questions if you don't mind...

1. how far were you from shore when you had your encounter with the log?
2. how did you get back?

I was less than 100yds outside the channel markers, north of the one directly off the launch.

2. how did you get back?

Very, very slowly...Wink I derigged and swam.
