We have just past the mid way point to this season.
Yesterday was the first day, for me, of what I call summer conditions. Southwest late afternoon winds, sunny skies, warm air, warm water - WTF it's about time!!!
In anticipation of saling yesterday, ol' blue / yellow needed a llittle freshening up. I noticed the deck was too smooth in the great no name storm of last Friday.
Being a cheapskate and lazy I kept redecking my board to a minimum. First thing in the morning (I had to wait to 8 to buy a new roller) 1- minute (max) of rolling the old Redek including opening the rust can, closing it and putting the board back on the shelf. We'll say 10 minutes total because I had to go in a get the salt shaker for a little extra grit.
Under power by 3:50pm with very nice traction. As you will note, no pads because I always wear something on my feet. It goes back to a painful 2 year procedure to remove razor clam slivers from the arch of my foot.
My dream of upgrading the board for my 50th birthday has been nixed. I can't belive how much fun I've had on my Robert August -9'er which was bought at the height of the retail season (early June) - talk about supporting the retail industry! As of this moment, the kids have it at a lake with a canoe paddle doin' the SUP thing!!
Moral of the story, don't throw away that old Redek, Use a little at a time and it will last for ever. The bigger can cost less than the little one.

So you use salt sprinkled in your redek and not sugar. Care to publish your method? How effect is your result? How often have you done it? How long do you expect it to last?

Salt or sugar, I doubt that either one is much different. The excess exposed will disolve with the water. My half-a$$ed aplication consisted of pouring directly from the can - give it a half roll - sprinkle on the Morton salt and give it a light finishing roll.
I'm definitely old school with the slot fins, that one plus 2 very nice ones by Curtis. But football fins; that's even before my time!
Another day of kid SUPing at Crystal Lake.

Evans, you're a pretty funny guy. What did you do with the doors to that car? Ron, where did you get that large can of Redex. By the way, have you ever been in the Chatham shop named Monomoy Sail and Cycle?

That can is so old, I'm having a total senior moment on that one.
FYI to the OUTCASTers - Alot of surfborards on cars heading west tonight on Rte 6. Past experience may indicate it was a good day. No idea as I was heading home from a rare day of work.
