No photoshopping here. Simply amazing footage of Dale last Friday. If you look closely, you can see him vigorously trying to continue the flight by flapping his arms. No humans or animals were injured in the making of this video.
Try any of these three links, depending on your connection speed; the Youtube seems to be the poorest quality. Dale was not sure who took the video so contact me if any of you know.
medium quality
higher quality, takes longer to load

Nice view of a secondary puff with extra lifting.
So who then gets hit by the flying gear?
Could one ride it down closer to the water…then bail when both human and gear have less un-attached air time?

Dale is a true hero in windsurfing.
When someone says" have you tried kiting? Have you seen how high they jump?" I smile and say "watch Dale Cook jump a sailboard"
Now I always LAND jumps that high . I do have to land on my pillow top mattress cause I only jump like Dale in my dreams!

Yes it is a huge jump for sure, however, Koster had a huge wave face as a launch pad. Dale, in contrast, achieved his height with a comparatively tiny ramp mostly once airborne.

Wow! That was high! Almost twice Dale's. That was huge.

indeed Phillip s jump incredible, just as quite a few others over the years who have taken incredible air off ocean waves, you get a great ramp, just like a freestyle skier or motocross and cycle stunts have
Dale s stunt is astounding in that it is fresh water in chop with a small ramp and that the wind angle is not sideshore as in the big wave jumps. Dale lands super high jumps in these conditions.
All the big jumps are awesome, The big one s inland like Dale are ...

Philip's jump from the ocean surf in incredibly high but comparing it to Dale's jumps is comparing apples to oranges. They are both great jumps but different.
Notice in the video that after reaching the apex of the jump Philip literally falls vertically to the water tail first. On the other hand Dale's jumps are a high and LONG. His high jumps have amazing horizontal trajectory and in jumps, like the one in the photo below, he hits the water on a full plane at high speed.
Both are amazing to watch.
