anyone know what that was all about? flashing signs saying "Incident ahead", police, train police everywhere and a parked train. I figure a fisherman or a kiter got hit by a train, but heard nothing about it. |

IT HAPPENS SO OFTEN AT THE WASHINGTON SIDE OF WELLS ISLAND, AT THE WHITE SALMON BRIDGE AND TO THE WEST, AT UNDERWOOD WA., THAT THE RAILROAD HAS HAD TO PUT UP AN EIGHT FOOT CHAIN LINK FENCE TO KEEP THE FISHERMAN AND TOURISTS OFF OF THE TRACK. THERE ARE EVEN SIGNS POSTED EVERY QUARTER MILE SAYING NO TRESPASSING, RR RIGHT OF WAY. AS YOU CAN SEE, EVEN THAT DOESN'T WORK.
THE NEXT TIME YOU BAD MOUTH THE RR FOR BANNING CROSSINGS OR TRESPASSING ON THEIR TRACKS, THINK OF THE IDIOTS WHO CAN'T EVEN SEE OR HEAR A TRAIN COMING ON A MILE LONG STRAIGHT STRECH OF TRACKS, AND THUS GET KILLED.

I will continue to bad-mouth the railroad. They are land-grab aholes. Let me trespass rr I will take my chances, especially, since I subsidize your fat-cat executive money pit of an industry anyway.
The rr sucks. It should be only blighting one side of the river -- I choose Oregon. |

Agreed, hundreds of miles of shoreline on both sides the Columbia and only a handful of really good places to sail (for any given skill level). It's criminal that they can be such a barrier to river access. |
