So I finally got a chance to head to Indian Lake yesterday. There's an old MDC beach off Clason Road with parking and a nice grassy area to rig up. There weren't any "no parking" or "no trepassing" signs, only a "no swimming" sign...but I wasn't swiming LOL.
The wind was out of the N/NW blowing at 12-14 MPH with gusts up to 25 mph. At the NW corner of the lake there's an opening through the hills for the wind to come in. The launch point was nice, though the beach is only about 150-200 feet wide, so you do have to pay attention getting back since there are houses and docks to either side. Water was clean. No one else was out on the water. I didnt' realize how large a lake it actually is.
The wind was definitely gusty, as would be expected with any inland sailing venue. For that reason I probably wouldn't recommend a very low volume short board. I had a blast on my 145 Carve and 7.0, though I probably should have rigged a little larger for the lulls. Despite being very gusty, it's definitely a nice spot to sail if only for the convenience/proximity |

Thanks for the report. Worcester remains a great little city. |
