Just got in to Avon yesterday from the cape. Quick question should we use weed fins for Pamlico sound?
Thanks |

Hatteras bound? Check Dare County website for webcam view of wash over area just north of Rodanthe. A week of strong northerly winds and high tide has it closed each morning for a few days now. Web cam is positioned well to look down on ponding there. Low tide and you are good to go N or S.

Weed fins are good & very much still in use, but not absolutely necessary. We just spent a week in Waves and weed was not a problem. Don't yet know about Frisco area though some boards down by the water had a variety of vertical fins.
Hatteras rule #1. Bring it all. RC |

Hey, if you are passing though and "know" the road is closed at Mirlo Beach, when in Nags Head passing the giant sand dunes (Jockeys Ridge), if sand is blowing across the road (as it should be today!) check out the spot!
Pass south of the dunes on Rt158, and turn right onto Soundside Drive. At the sound, turn right into the entrance of the park. Park, rig, bump and jump! Leave the weed fins dry!
Strong NW is one of the best directions there, and with deep water breaking into shallow sand bars along with a long NW wind fetch, the bump and jump is quite fun! Plus, NO wind fins!!
I may be heading out there today after breakfast! |

Glad you guys are enjoying.
Cape Cod should get the credit though, as we are the ones sitting in the middle of the low....
You should be getting some pretty good waves too.
We were good yesterday, but today is soup....prob sail a 3.7 in the rain later _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |
