tides look best after 3 depending on tidal surge Mon Wed if it blows could be epic as tide could be right from 11 until dark |

Do you need a quiver of port and starboard tack fins like you had back in the day or do you just show up and use what you have?? |

I would say you do not need assymetrical fins. The key is using very fine tuned boards with fine finish, good rigs , and good speed or small 24 to 28cm slalom fins. The system is 1/3 board 1/3 rig and 1/3 fin.
At least a couple guys here use them and I used them alot over the years.
Port is the favored tack at Chinook.
Ultimately , with all that stuff, you need a sailor who can go and tune together.
Even amongst us who have done alot of speed sailing this would be true. Derek went fast because he had a very good rig, board and fin (it was assy).
He has a great feel for wind and water and did all well and that is why he is the fastest. He would still be fastest with a symmetrical. |

looks like it was full on at Chinook today. I wanted to go but weekend commitments would not allow. Would not be surprised to see the fastest US speeds of the year from this one.
Missed it again! DOH! |

Would a old Jimmy Lewis speed needle work for a board or do they have better stuff now? |
