It's ski season for me but I thought this wind graph from Jones beach was pretty interesting. Probably the strongest I have ever seen there. I am sure some of you hard core sailors will be out east today!

No doubt. It's averaging mid-30s with gusts into the 60s out east, including on the Columbia 10 minutes from my house. Too bad I don't do gloves. Port Kelley has to be hitting 12 feet, which I've never seen on the Columbia. OTOH, it's moot since I don't own a 2.0 meter sail and PK's sensor is significantly wind shadowed; it's gotta be averaging well into the 40s, if not 50s, in the swell zone.

What's with the models in the Fall, George? They keep predicting huge blasts lasting for many days at a time, with NOTHING materializing. Are they just overanticipating surface mixing?

Age old question, what does one rig for winds 16-41? Pretty incredible wind range to cope with....

At my usual spot, a 4.7 on maybe 75 liters. The average is (almost) all that counts, and if the time spent in the water 'cause we can't plane = time in the water because it's not safe standing up, we're rigged right to maximize our planing time. Yer lookin' at fairly common Gorge corridor conditions, so we get used to it.

Solid 20 for most of the afternoon with a little swell even. What a miracle! There must be a God!
