I wish we had pictures of today. Very Happy Almost a sin that it was just the two of us out there! Plenty of room and waves. Oh well. It is one of those days I will remember 10 years from now. Who would have thought? I was expecting a rainy day not total sun and loco logo rides. I have been to Punta San Carlos twice and today rivaled the waves I had there. It just does not line up all that often.
What happened to the "Wavedog?"
Hope he was not a Chopdog. Embarassed

Wow, sounds awesome! That webcam pic pretty much tells the story... Empty, beautiful waves!

We ended up having a super fun Cove sesh down here in Hatteras! I just posted a video of some of the action here. Basically, it was just Super Freaking Windy with head high set waves! Fun! Oh wait, one more detail- 65 degree water, 70 degree air Razz

Can relate to the "dunno how big it really is" phenom. At my local break at Playalinda Beach at Cape Canaveral National Seashore, FL it can be very deceiving too. That pic posted above looks largish compared to others I've seen from the same frame. Consistency of frame size tells lots.

Last Friday, it was side off 15-26 mph and the outer sand bars were topping off the swells as they obliquely came into the beach. I was out at sun up. The waves looked like 2 foot, but I knew better. 12 foot breaking surfs, 15 foot getting the chop about 3/4 of a mile out. Got drilled a couple of times and broke my base tendon. Quite the swim in....

Gotta train those around you to let you run on a very long leash. Cheers.

Near Pt Judith is where we sailed. Here is a shot from above( 40 ft or so up), took it from my phone camera.... but you get the idea. The rideable wave is off to the right side and you ride towards where this shot was taken. breeze was right to left

In my humble attempts to become a surfer, a look at the above pictures tells me that those conditions were huge! Congratulations to all those you did it, no woulda-coulda-shuolda excuses for me on Thursday.

Friday’s surfing safari went off exactly as planned. Morebeachdotcom Mike and I went north of the bowl; to a previously scouted out bar which is more exposed. We came out of the water at 4:40pm when the waves were no longer visible!

He had some great rides, I couldn't get much go’n. -The bar eat me - All in all, you couldn’t ask for a better chance at the end of a work week in December!!
