Just passing on an email from my carefully chosen sail source, Northwave, in Hood River:

<<Act now and receive the greatest discounts and lowest prices of the year!
UPTO 30% off !!
now available on our stock 2009'S and ALL PRE-ORDERED 2010 custom quivers!
NoLimitz and Chinook hardware are also heavily discounted!
Locally made Sails and Hardware make great Holiday Gifts>>

I was in their shop last week picking up my custom designed and built 2010 quiver when they got a call from Baja ... some dude with a thick accent inquiring about their product. He had just won a speed contest on a borrowed recreational slalom sail he'd never heard of and was STOK'D to learn more about it. The side of the conversation I could hear included such comments as, "That's our 5-11 model" ... "Sure, we can build you one in those colors and materials; you want open-weave scrim or clear monofilm in the window? Our recommendation in that size is ..." ... and "Holy Cow! [insert another world-renowned brand name]? That's hundreds more than ours will cost you" ... "Sure, we can make it by Friday."

But there's more to the email: "Northwave wants to remind you that it all wraps up here Friday, Dec 18th. We will be closed Dec 19th thru Jan 12th for our extended Holiday Season."

Disclosure: Not only did this post occur to me just minutes ago when I got the email, but NW knows nothing about it yet, and you guys get the same prices and custom options I do. The only extra consideration I got was the opportunity to test some early prototypes at my chosen venues months ago to give them my feedback on some new performance materials.

I'd still be plenty happy on any stock Northwave ZX in the waves at Pistol River. The ability to choose the materials and colors I like is a big plus. Ordering at the right time for brand new custom sails is another big plus.
