Here's another one.
You get an unsolicited check in the mail for no reason.
You cash it.
It's valid, free money, with no strings.
The catch?
When the sender gets the endorsed check back, the flip side now has your bank account information numbers on it. Buh-BYE cash and savings.

Whether it's free money or a wide board, there's no such thing as a free lunch.

I just got 2 emails from this guy. I told him that I will not send anything until his check clears. I told him the best way is to send a cashiers check. I know that this is a scam but I will try to play with him as much as I can. I think I will ask that he send the check to my office since I am a prosecutor and see how much he is paying attention.

Just got the same message from Mr. PaulPeter as well. Obviously this is a scam. I briefly looked at the FTC's site for a place to file a report but couldn't find anything. I probably didn't look hard enough. Are there any other agencies that we can file his e-mail with so that some kind of watch or investigation can start?

Guys, this is a state-sponsored operation that has been running from Nigeria since about the time Al Gore first heard about the internet. Not only are thousands of people involved, but they're not in U.S. jurisdiction. Your only defense is looking gift horses in the mouth.
