Anyone heading down to PSC should know a good portion of the road from Hwy 1 has been pretty trashed by the 24 hours of rain they had a week or so ago. It's in the worst shape its been for a long time. It's passable, but one wrong turn and you could end up with a wheel dropping into a 3ft deep trench. Not recommended for motor-homes etc.
On the flip side PSC is so green its freaky. |

I'm back in the US - just hit PSC for the weekend swell.
PS The road along the border is finished now...no need to go through downtown TJ anymore on the way back. |

That 24 hours of rain seems to have become an annual early September occurrence. It took almost a week for the road to dry out when I was down there last year at the same time. |

Not sure it's a great idea to wear just a shorty if you don't have experience there and in side offshore winds. Next stop, 11 miles downwind along the desert coast. That said, I usually wear a 3/2 short sleeve long leg and booties, so my feet are warm and I can skate over the reef rocks in May. Lots of surfsailing experience helps, and knowing I'm not going to fall constantly if ever.
A 3 long suit is fine, as water is warmer now, but high 50's is not really warm.
Most opt for 4/3's, as long previous NW winds bring upwelling, and colder waters.
Depending on how you get there, and your diet, most sailors are sleep deprived, and nutrition deprived to some extent.
You're a ways from civilization, so caution is better than bravado, and more wetsuit better than less.
Now if you were a PWA pro, wear what you want, including just shorts. |

Remember, Kevin is an advanced surfsailor, a freestyler, young and strong, and been to PSC over 10 trips. AND, he's a surfer at OceanBeachSF.
Old farts or less experienced need much more caution, and more wetsuit.
Bring 4/3 first and foremost, then whatever else fits inside your car. |
