I need a review of the Mistral Syncro 92 from 2007.
I'm going to replace my Mistral Score 98 (my beginner board), and I also have a smaller North Pacific 8'4, which is probably around 80 liters.
I sail in the Gorge, use Northwave sails (3.7 - 5.3), and am not an expert rider. I can do it, but am still learning and haven't got my jibes down yet, but I'm happy to be out on 3.7 days in the swells.
Will I like it, will I hate it, should I get something else? |

You'd expand your TOW and thus improve faster with bigger and smaller sails ... and FWIW I've never heard anyone complain about their Synchros. All I've heard are raves, especially regarding smooth ride in chop and great swell-riding.

Thanks Andy, that was very informative. From the review it sounds like the "perfect board" (is that possible?) for what I need.
And thanks Isobars, you are right - I do need a 3.2. I got slammed at Rowena when I had the biggest sail on the water with a 3.7 last spring, and there were a couple of days I couldn't sail at Swell because I didn't have a small enough sail. I'm getting the hang of it though.
Now the real question is, do you think my wife will notice that I no longer use my old white & blue board and now have a new white & orange board? |

New at Gorge Performance....I think he was going to sell it last year for $850 I was interested in it.
I have only heard good things about the board, only negative is maybe not as durable as some boards, but I find that hard to believe.
For that 3.7 and below you might try a 65-75 ltr. older slow wave board. If I am on my 3.7 and 74 ltr. bd. and way overpowered I grab my old 65 ltr wave board. On that I am fine down to 3.0 I just hide in the swell and look for a lull to jibe.
Good Luck! |

You'd also be surprised at how much fun and TOW one can get on a 6.2, also. It would very significantly increase TOW on that Synchro, and if the wind is steady enough some nice swell exists. A 5.3 - 6.2 gap is easily manageable.
But if you have to hide your toys from your wife, you need to get her into WSing or change wives. '-)
