Cargill hopes to build a new landfill city of 12,000 homes in the old salt ponds in Redwood City. Save The Bay, an environmental organization is
leading the opposition to prevent this development. You can read about
it at http://www.DontPaveMyBay.org and sign an easy online petition opposing it.

Petition signed. 30 seconds elapsed. Thank you Abigail for the heads-up.
Definitely got to support Save The Bay in this. There indeed is only one San Francisco Bay, and the fighters who have prevented further paving of the Bay for housing developments are the reason the S.F. Bay Area is still such a great place to live. If you don't agree, try living in downtown LA or the San Fernando Valley for a year, and then you'll agree.
Hell, San Francisco Bay is the thing that gives the local area is name. Have some respect, Cargill.
Hopefully one day before we are all dead, we as a society will truly understand that it is time to built up -- not out. Livable cities, not sprawl. It's time. I predict a loss for Cargill on this one, but if you care...you must join in our communal Cargill smack-down.

I definatly agree with not filling the bay, and will support that thru Save the Bay by sending money (to Save the Bay) and petition opposing fill.
Does anyone have a map of this tract?
My dark side also comes out on this one because I see a potental opportunity here.
We could pressure the Redwood City planning dept that one of the conditions for approval could be to get the developer to build a bay launch park with parking access there. This large part of the bay currently has no shortboard launch access (except at the Redwood City harbor, which is only accessable with formula equip since you have to sail down a long estuary to get to the bay).
The stronger the opposition to this developement, the more leverage we
have to get a new launch, so get your petition in!! even if you don't care about filling the bay.
Back to my good side, which says don't fill the bay! so get your petition in anyway!
