Having read some of the TEA party's supporters pleas for more personal freedom and less of a nanny state, I pose the question, who supports these folks and why? Remembering mrgybe's attacks on Barbara Boxer, let's start there. Today's news shows that coal money flows to Carly Fiorina, Boxer's opponent. But not just any coal money, but money from Robert Murray, who has clashed with environmentalists in Ohio and calls global warming "global goofiness". Does that name sound familiar? Murray's company was last in the headlines in 2007 when a cave in at a Utah mine killed six miners. Murray blamed it on an earthquake. Talk about goofiness. Murray's real objection? Loss of profits and regulation of mine safety? He clashed with Boxer during a Senate hearing over his company's safety record. Sounds a bit like BP, whose record of safety violations was nearly 100 times that of Exxon.
Now I know that the Supreme Court has said that these companies are all citizens--protected from liability by their corporate status, but free to exercise their first amendment rights to support the politician of their choice. Are they proud to make it clear which politicians they are supporting? Oh no, and the Republicans have blocked a vote on the Schumer bill that would reveal which companies are buying which politicians.
Its about money, not about freedom. What the sleazy end of the business community wants is freedom from regulation. Try China. |

My guitarist and drummer do. They are working class dudes like myself and I try to convince them that the republican party has sold them out for the all mighty dollar but they won't hear it. They believe what Rush Limberger has to say. |

Since 1900 the tide has been slowly turning, and now its its in overdrive. The old guard from the Repubs came from the wealthy NEast, think Greenwich Country Club. And the core of the Dems was working class stiffs like my dad, who hails from Wisconsin. Now, the Country Clubbers are just as likely to be Democrat, while the Repub base is firmly rural, and Southern and getting more so. The problem with the right wing agenda, is that we had lower taxes and ZERO regulation during the past decade and it didnt turn out so well for the middle class. So now the Repubs center thier argument around immigration and seccession, while the Dems do nothing but scuffle and burn. |

Sheeeet, JP, Im crapping myself in laughter. At some point we need to alter the current path of reproduction in this Country, its not a positive economic development. |

Supporter? He's running for governor! Apart from the planting grass bit, that could get him elected in Alaska. _________________ florian - ny22

"Who supports the right wing?"
More than half the U.S., plus many heads of foreign states when it comes to economics and Iran, plus the voting majorities in more and more European nations.

Funny thing about counting your supporters.
If you pretend those who support their country, reasonable taxes, individual freedom, etc is the far right then its everybody since that is clearly the agenda of the middle and the left as well.
If you count anyone who likes low taxes and the gov out of most of your life, that is 80+percent.
If you mean those who believe they hear the truth on Fox News, only about 10% of Americans.
According to Fox own polls very few of their listeners believe what they hear on Fox.
Claims about other nations are hilarious, since the right wing of each country is very different. The right wing in Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc don't like Obama either but they support Al Quada.
Military dictatorships worldwide support the far right.
Afghan warlords generally came in for Bush and don't like Obama,
In Belize the left supports gun ownership, abhors taxes and government interference. The right wants guns banned, supports development, wants individuals to pay taxes instead of just businesses. Many Belizians think the US Talk Radio far right are troubled Americans. |
