I have a 2000 NR 5.8 that I find is rather huge in the waves and am looking for something smaller for light wind coast days.

I already have a Zone 5.2 and need something kind of a size bigger.

So the question is will a Combat 5.6 be significantly more powerful than a Zone 5.5? Both would be year 2009. Question

I have mostly Zones, and one combat ( 4.2). I don't think you would notice the difference. i like the combat better, than the Zone, it's more durable, with all ripstop. Mine are 2008, 2009 combat.

So you do not think there would be a real difference between the power of a combat 5.6 and a Zone 5.5? Question

I have been a huge fan of the Zone since 1999.
Yes, bottom end is slightly less, slightly. It was lighter then combat.
On the wave there is nothing better (for me) , it just disapears allowing a nice square bottom turn and repowers very swifftly.

2011 NO MORE ZONE. NP Maui has some great deals on 2009/2010 Zones:

I am getting Combat because it has less material in the head (seems more similar to the Zone), compared to a Fly2.

U can't tell the power difference between the two designs.
Wind changes by the time you hit the beach, grab the other rig, and head back out.
Zone lighter feeling.
Combat more durable.
That's all you can tell.
