Any rec's for a winter windsurfing vacation spot in Dec/Jan.
I want a windy place for me to have fun, but will have a beginner to teach too... so need somewhat flat water and light winds for at least part of the day.

its less crowed than several years ago and always a great vacation.
a gret place to stay is at the luana kai by the maui sunset in kihei
huge lawn with sailing and kiting right in front.
u can always get a great rate from leslie at luana kai
her number is 800-669-1127
i was just there and had a great time
she has some great rates too
yesterday wind at kanaha was 4.0 sail
very cool

Bonaire!
Been there a couple times late Jan/ Early Feb.
Very good for learning! Score big points with signif. other!
Shallow bay - good for working on jibes.
Not quite as reliable wind as Aruba (a good choice too).
Baja - Tough for a beginner - excellent sailing.
Have fun!

Thanks all,
Maui and Baja all seemed to have too much swell in the winter, and she is really quite new to this... i can have a ton of fun as long as there is wind at some point.... i can live without the waves to get her really into windsurfing
Sounds like Bonaire is the ticket... now who to book with and where to stay ??

Not Sure if Ann Phalen is still around, but she was "The Caribchakita"
for Bonaire, and she could set you up right. Try the Caribbean Forum.

Bonaire place to stay-
Belmar, if you can swing it $$. If you are with a group, it can be reasonable. We rented a three bedroom one year.
On the water - snorkel from the door.
Eating out in Bonaire can be pricey and slow! So, factor that in to lodging choice. A kitchen can be great!
