No, in the context of government, Republicans would prefer the free fall for those on the lowest parts of the income ladder, irrespective of the realities now, or any difficult circumstances. Those in the earliest, and most formative part of their lives are most at overall risk.

We must also remember that our youthful adults fall into this category income wise. Why do we want to stem and inhibit those having a hard time beginning or starting their productive lives? America needs to get much more on the ball than a simple service oriented society, so a broad creative strategy is an important imperative into the future.

Anyone interested in licking the ass of some rich folks to build their future?

obama took 26billion from food stamp program this summer. The money went to unions so they could pay dues, to help raise money for november election. Media pretty much ignored this, wonder why. I am not to sure who is more evil , the obots, or the media that keeps protecting him.

Ya mean this 26 billion?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/10/AR2010081004201.html

"They also had to cover the cost of the measure so that it would not increase future deficits. The bill includes nearly $10 billion in new taxes on U.S. multinational corporations that do business abroad, and it rescinds after 2014 an increase in food stamp payments enacted in last year's $862 billion stimulus package. Ya’ see mat-ty, the problem with getting all your information from Fox news is, well, they lie. Ok, ok lie might be a bit harsh; how about embellish, exaggerate, mislead, and/or fabricate. What Fox neglected to mention was the original increase in the program came from the stimulus package. And was designed, from its inception, to taper off over time (i.e. as the economy improved). In an attempt to curtail deficit spending the legislation in question, which doesn’t go into effect until 2014, affects the RATE of spending in the future (i.e. less!) and occurs over a ten year period saving 14.1 billion bucks. The average family of four gets $59 dollars less per month. Does it suck for Dems to have to choose? Of course. It is however much better than just saying “no”, the battle cry of the GOP. But with any luck at all the ecomomy will have improved significantly by 2014 and the point will be moot and no cuts will be necessary.
You guys, Fox news junkies, are funny. So, in the eyes of the GOP if Obama doesn’t cut deficit spending he is a socialist out to destroy America. If he cuts social programs (to reduce the deficit) he has betrayed his party and is a pariah. If he tries to get health insurance for Americans who otherwise have none he is a SOCIALIST bent of America’s destruction. If he cuts defense spending (to reduce the deficit) he is a Muslim terrorist sympathizer out to destroy America. Rolling Eyes

yeah, its great to be a repub, you can just blast away and then offer ZERO progressive ideas to move us forward. BTW-we as a people are paying less in taxes , as a percent of income, than any time post WWII.

The Democrats in the House have forced the Senate Republicans into facing reality about taxes. Here it is: Both parties (and the not-really-a-party that claims to like tea) agree that everyone should pay the progressive Bush-era tax rates for the first 1/4 of a million dollars of adjusted gross income.

If the Senate Republicans do not vote to approve the House bill, they must then admit their willingness to scuttle everyone's tax cut to ensure the top 1% also receive a tax cut on AGI over $250,000.

Again, everyone gets the discounted tax rate on income up to $250,000 -even the top of the top income earners! The only difference is the tax rate on AGI over that amount.

Is this what the Republicans want to own?

If it helps the OBAMA economy get moving, no problem.

I would rather own that, than the healthcare bill jammed down our throats. Maybe someday we will finish reading it,
