Looks great! Does the screw thread into a stainless or copper sleeve? One weak-link in all the surfboard fin systems like FCS,Future,ProBox, all the way back to the O'fish'l is the fin screw has a tendency to strip out. With the FCS's I've hit rocks and ripped the screw right through the plastic sleeve, most of the time losing the fin but at best 75% of the time unseating the plug enough so it leaks. I hope Slot Box has worked around this problem it would suck to have to replace a fin box every time you accidentally over tighten a fin screw or hit a rock.
I totally agree A-boxes are a pain in the butt, but there is a lot to be said for fin savor's when you hit a rock. Never throw the baby out with the bath water, unless the kids a total loser. Maybe make a A-box using the Slot Box construction method? I think there is a reason windsurfing fin systems have always been screw-to-fin connection based. It's good to see someone is trying to make things lighter. |

Thanks for the pics
Now the weight savings make sense. It's made out of CF.
That's why I started making my own tuttle boxes, I actually mold the box as part of the board while I'm laying up the bottom, so the box is the board. I got tired of trying every method suggested to bond the poly carbonate box to the board.
It's nice to see that they are working on a more robust single fin version, it looks like a winner to me. My next board will certainly be going this way.
I like the wedge effect you get with the Tuttle and Power, but I don't like the screws through the top of the board. And no fore/aft tuning either.

unless a sleeve is sunk inside and not visible, their is none, the screws that came have a course thread, and are about US #10 size, 1/2 " long,
the width is wide compared to the hole, think the object is self tap, and leave in the box when not in use. _________________ K4 fins
