|
|
I will be in Milan, then Venice, for a few days soon, and would love the chance to sail in the lake or sea if the wind will let me. No wind on Cape Cod, so maybe it's there
OTOH, get ready because it will probably start nukin' as soon as I leave.
Any info on best rental shops/sailing sites, as well as seasonal conditions, would be helpful. Thanks |

I wasn't figuring on sailing in the canals, but saw some shops and launch sites on the coast. Looks like Simone, on the south end of the lake, has shops and places to sail, but I'll check out the north end as well if time permits. Thanx |

My opinion is that Garda is pretty sweet, and Torbole is much more
Windsurf oriented than Venice. Plus the backdrop (and front drop ;*) )
at Garda are really spectacular You should see both, but you should
Windsurf at Garda.

Spent 3 summers on Lake Garda, Torbole or Riva has great conditions. Get up early and sail the North winds from Torbole to Malcesine (about 12 miles, take a break have lunch (Spaghetti Carbonara), wait until around 1pm and sail the south winds back to Torbole. Have fun...

You could sail on the Lagoon which separates Venice from the mainland. However, there isn't much wind in that part of the Adriatic, and I don't think you can find rentals nearby. If you only have a few days, you won't want to spend them on the water, either. Venice has to be the most fascinating city in the world. |

I spent years there.
No wind in the south of the lake.
Te north has some of the most consistent summer termals in Europe.
Ton of shops to rent kickass gear.
I have not sailed there in years but it is still considered on of the best spots in europe.
As Jim said
Get up early catch the Vento for a downwinder and catch the ORA (clock in Italian as it always comes in the early afternoon ) back.
Nothing like it
You will love it.
Brings back memories of my first Hitech custom and Simmerstyle sails........
