Well, I grew up in a suburb of Buffalo,NY still have cottage on Lake Erie. Moved to Richmond,Va 10 yrs ago. Now I'm a Damn Yankee. Puts me in a good position to enjoy the obx and get down to FL for few weeks in the winter.

So I'm in Destin till Jan. 7. I brought my Serenity and an assortment of short boards. If there is anyone on thr forum that wants to sail feel free to pm and work out a sesion on the water......

Hey SeaDawg, OBX awesome...Wish we could join you sailing off the sugar sands of Destin, but we are multiple hours east near Jacksonville. By the way, if it was blowing in Destin today like it was here in Jacksonville area, you would have enjoyed your short boards and left the Serenity docked... Sail On.....

I'm in Gulf Breeze just down Hwy 98 about 45 minutes from Destin. Was gonna sail today but the high is like 48 and it's overcast = maybe next w/e. Oh well, I had to put up Xmas lights anyway. Come on down to Pensacola Bch. Quietwater Bch is the first sand parking lot on the left about 500ft after you go through the toll booth. Great on easterlies and northerlies which are the prevailing winds this time of the year. And the bars are all walking distance from the launch after you are done. You can sail right up to the beach behind Paradise Bar & Grill if you are so inclined. As for sharks, yes they are in the Gulf. To my knowledge no surfers in this area have ever ended up on the menu so I guess if you spend more time ON the water insread of IN the water you will be alright.

Vacation Properties for Ideal would be lodge kind that is close to a decent place in Florida for the man and female’s tourist. Near a type of cocoa beach areas yet at the same time not very far to drive for me to windsurf.
