mac, there you go again, you can't help yourself, you're obsessed with race and racism, it's like your favorite tool.
You are trying desperately to tie me in with people that I have nothing in common with in terms of your accusations.

But that's the main problem with you people on the left. You think you can categorize everyone within groups that you decide on, which is also the main problem with the governance by people on the left. They think that everyone can easily be categorized within select groups so that they know how they will react or behave.

Sorry it doesn't work that way, we aren't all part so some simplified group of some sort, and we don't all react in a simplified manner of predictability.
It's called "unintended consequenses", which is why our tax code doesn't work, and never will as designed, same with Obamacare. We aren't sheep, and cattle, and schools of fish, we are individuals, with individual wants, needs, and desires.
And until you people on the left figure that out, you will always have problems with the people who want more freedom and understanding.

Good luck with your labels.

Nw that was a comedy post right?

You know how all those lefties think and they all think the the same.
You have catagorized them into a group that you decided on.
And when governing those misguided lefties think people can be catagorized into groups so you will know how they think.

Like Nw was just doing.

Good luck with your labels.

NW left himself wide open here and made a good point at the same time.
He is a smart guy who thinks that way and there are a lot of others like him on the left and the right who think that way and just like NW don't realize they are doing it.

First the we can take those lefties out of those groups we assigned them, ignore the opinions that we chose for them, and ask them what they think.
Then we get them to do the same for conservatives.
We will find that there is no left or right and that those BS groups are media driven.
Folks whose opinion you ask will be all over he map on political and social issues.
To start with a first step, try asking libs if they want more freedom and understanding as well.
Will you be surprised to learn that those lefties are just like you on that issue?
You will soon find that there are those on the left who agree with you on nearly every issue.

At one time in my memory there were liberals and conservatives in both parties. The media has driven the groups apart, esp. Talk Radio and the Video version on Fox.
I you listen for it, you will find little else except assigning lefties into groups and providing them with foolish opinions, exactly as you described in your first post critical of the left.
Both parties do this, but as long as those media continue there will always be a big group of conservatives who unconsciously think this way.

keycocker, you bring up an interesting point. Labels and the supposed ideas that go with them can often have no real bearing on reality. For instance, take the idea of being responsible for yourself instead of relying on the government or someone else. Conservatives these days think they are promoters and leaders in this realm of thought, and we hear it over and over from many of our right wing contributors here. However, isn't it ironic that when it comes down to the ACA and the idea at its core that folks need to take responsibility for their health care by being suitably insured is totally rejected as unacceptable. Here I am, a liberal Democrat that actually believes in personal responsibility, whereas conservative Republicans are adamantly opposed to the idea. Even though private industry is at the heart of the ACA's theme (a concept plan originating from the conservative Heritage Foundation), it's totally unacceptable because people should have the freedom to be irresponsible and freeload off of the government and society. I can't help but think that conservative Republicans often lack a sense of integrity and a commitment to their ideals.

I agree but are you sure that conservatives lack that commitment along with liberals or are both groups being misled by the media?
Folks who oppose the ACA mostly know little about it or the health care biz in general. They aren't analyzing whether any part of it has anything to do with personal responsibility.
They oppose it because they are Republicans.
Or they oppose the Patriot Act because they are Democrats.
Not one person here has read either of those bills.

swc: "Here I am, a liberal Democrat that actually believes in personal responsibility, whereas conservative Republicans are adamantly opposed to the idea."

I don't know how you can say that when it has always been a foundation to their beliefs.

key: "Folks who oppose the ACA mostly know little about it or the health care biz in general. They aren't analyzing whether any part of it has anything to do with personal responsibility.
They oppose it because they are Republicans.
Or they oppose the Patriot Act because they are Democrats.
Not one person here has read either of those bills."

You could easily expand that statement to include the members of both houses in DC., they haven't read them either.

Amen on that NW.
I don't care much for any big Gov. Program like the ACA because the US gov. has a terrible record when comes to managing or even understanding big programs.

NW30, you must have missed what I was saying. If conservative Republicans actually believed in personal responsibility, they would support the ACA, particularly since it was modeled based on a concept proposed by a conservative think tank. Funny how conservative Republicans support the privatization of Social Security and Medicare, but can't accept a health care law that's predicated on competition in the private health insurance marketplace for those under 65. Another mystery that sends a message that they don't live up to their ideals.

Maybe the real problem is the fact that the Democrats came up with the idea first to bring together responsibility and capitalism to achieve responsible health care reform. Add to that, it answered the call that President Obama made to Congress to deliver responsible health care reform. Can't be seen liking anything that President Obama wants.
