The doctor I need most often now has to charge me cash because Medicare will not accept his opinion, based on 5 years of treating me, that my treatments are not medically necessary. And that's after Medicare lost a landmark suit over that very issue.

Do your left wing media tell you about that?

Herring Broadcasting, owner of the Wealth TV network, and The Washington Times announced Thursday that they have joined in a strategic partnership to create a new national cable news network called One America News, set to debut nationwide this summer.

“One America News Network will provide Americans a new, credible source for national and international news and investigative reporting as well as talk shows designed to foster an independent, cutting-edge debate about the policies, issues and solutions facing the country,” said Robert Herring Sr., CEO of Herring Broadcasting, founded in 2004 and based in San Diego.

The intent is to provide credible news and thoughtful analysis for “viewers with self-described independent, conservative and libertarian values,” Mr. Herring said. “Fox News has done a great job serving the center-right and independent audiences. But those who consider themselves liberal have a half dozen or more choices on TV each day from which to get their news,” he said.

It is time for some more options, he added.

The new network, which is wholly owned by the Herring Broadcasting, will rely on The Washington Times as its primary source of news and analysis from the nation’s capital. Broadcasts will originate from a state-of-the-art TV studio adjacent to the newsroom that has anchored The Times since it was founded 31 years ago.

One America News Network (OANN), also referred to as One America News (OAN), is an American right-wing[1] pay television news channel launched on July 4, 2013, owned by Herring Networks, Inc. The network is headquartered in San Diego, California, and operates a news bureau in Washington, D.C.[2] and New York City.

Originally launched with the intention of targeting a conservative and center-right audience,[3][4] OAN states a goal of delivering credible national and international news coverage throughout the day while its prime time political talk shows illustrate a conservative perspective.[5][6][7] According to The Washington Post, the channel has been noted for its pro-Trump coverage.[8] The channel has also been noted for promoting falsehoods and conspiracy theories.[9][10]

An inside look at One America News, the insurgent TV network taking ‘pro-Trump’ to new heights
By Marc Fisher July 5, 2017

(Marcos Ramos Celis for The Washington Post)
One America News is an obscure TV channel struggling to emerge from the cellar of the cable ratings, but it is nonetheless one of President Trump’s favorite media outlets. It’s not hard to see why: On One America newscasts, the Trump administration is a juggernaut of progress, a shining success with a daily drumbeat of achievements.

One America — a tiny father-and-sons operation that often delivers four times as many stories per hour as its competitors — promises “straight news, no opinion,” promoting itself as the antidote to the Big Three cable news networks’ focus on punditry and the one big story of the moment.

But since its inception in 2013, and especially since Trump began his march to the White House, One America’s owner, Robert Herring Sr., a millionaire who made his money printing circuit boards, has directed his channel to push Trump’s candidacy, scuttle stories about police shootings, encourage antiabortion stories, minimize coverage of Russian aggression, and steer away from the new president’s troubles, according to more than a dozen current and former producers, writers and anchors, as well as internal emails from Herring and his top news executives.

here is a great example of the NYT helping the republicans... and called out for it by AOC.

remember the NYT hated hillary and ran more negative articles on her by far than positive ones. ya fox for example has run what a handful of negative commentary on trump. And trump is accused of treason and on and on. no digging by fox to find anything on trump.

here is how real fake news is made by right wing corporations...

How Monsanto manipulates journalists and academics
The Guardian
Carey Gillam
,The Guardian•June 1, 2019

Over the past year, evidence of Monsanto’s deceptive efforts to defend the safety of its top-selling Roundup herbicide have been laid bare for all to see. Through three civil trials, the public release of internal corporate communications has revealed conduct that all three juries have found so unethical as to warrant punishing punitive damage awards.

Much attention has been paid to Monsanto conversations in which company scientists casually discuss ghostwriting scientific papers and suppressing science that conflicts with corporate assertions of Roundup’s safety. There has also been public outrage over internal records illustrating cozy relationships with friendly regulators which border on – and possibly cross into – collusion.

But these once-confidential Monsanto documents demonstrate that the deception has gone much deeper. In addition to the manipulation of science and of regulators, the company’s most insidious deceit may be its strategic manipulation of the media, according to the records.

We recently learned that a young woman falsely posing as a freelance BBC reporter at one of the Roundup cancer trials was in fact a “reputation management” consultant for FTI Consulting, whose clients include Monsanto. The woman spent time with journalists who were covering the Hardeman v Monsanto trial in San Francisco, pretending to do reporting while also suggesting to the real reporters certain storylines or points that favored Monsanto.

Lawyer Tim Litzenburg, who represents several plaintiffs suing Monsanto over claims Roundup causes cancer, told me that he has traced what he calls a “dark money project” by Monsanto aimed at winning favorable public opinion. The project includes planting helpful news articles in traditional news outlets; discrediting and harassing journalists who refused to parrot the company’s propaganda; and secretly funding front groups to amplify pro-Monsanto messaging across social media platforms.

“We now know they had pet journalists who pushed Monsanto propaganda under the guise of ‘objective reporting,’” Litzenburg, a partner with the firm Kincheloe, Litzenburg & Pendleton, told me. “At the same time, the chemical company sought to amass dossiers to discredit those journalists who were brave enough to speak out against them.”

According to the internal Monsanto documents Litzenburg has received through discovery, pro-Monsanto narratives are disseminated by individuals and groups that promote the work of journalists who follow Monsanto’s desired storylines while seeking to smear and discredit journalists whose work threatens Monsanto.

For me, a career journalist who spent 17 years covering Monsanto for the international news agency Reuters, the revelations are not surprising. In 2014, an organization called Academics Review published two scathing articles about my work at Reuters writing about Monsanto’s genetically engineered crops and its Roundup herbicide business. Monsanto had been unhappy with some of my stories, complaining that I should not be including the views of company critics. Academics Review amplified those complaints under the guise of being an independent association.

Internal Monsanto documents have revealed, however, that Academics Review was and is anything but independent. The organization was the brainchild of Monsanto, designed as a vehicle for responding to “scientific concerns and allegations” while “keeping Monsanto in the background so as not to harm the credibility of the information,” as one November 2010 email from Monsanto executive Eric Sachs stated. According to a March 11, 2010 email chain, Academics Review was established with the help of a former director of corporate communications at Monsanto who set up his own public relations shop and a former vice president of a biotech industry trade association of which Monsanto was a member.

Other internal documents show Monsanto’s money and marching orders behind the American Council on Science and Health (ACSH), an organization that purports to be independent of industry while publishing articles attacking journalists and scientists whose work contradicts Monsanto’s agenda. Articles written by ACSH associates have appeared in USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and Forbes.

ACSH has published several articles aimed at discrediting not just me but also Pulitzer-prize-winning New York Times reporter Eric Lipton, who ACSH calls a “science birther”, and former New York Times reporter Stephanie Strom, who ACSH accused of “irresponsible journalism” shortly before she left the paper. Both reporters had written articles exposing concerns about Monsanto. The New York Times’ Danny Hakim has also been targeted by ACSH for writing about Monsanto. “Danny Hakim Is Lying To You,” reads one of several posts by ACSH about Hakim.

Internal Monsanto emails show ACSH seeking and receiving financial commitments from Monsanto. One email string from 2015 between the company and ACSH details the “unrestricted” financial support ACSH desires while laying out the “impacts” across social media ACSH is achieving. “Each and every day we work hard to prove our worth to companies like Monsanto…” the ACSH email states. A separate email chain among Monsanto executives states “You WILL NOT GET A BETTER VALUE FOR YOUR DOLLAR than ACSH.”

Tom Philpott, a longtime journalist with Mother Jones magazine who has written critically about genetically modified crops for several years, has also felt the sting of industry harassment.

“These are vicious and utterly unfounded attacks on a journalist’s credibility, well designed to undercut him with his employer,” he told me.

While harassing reporters whose coverage it deems negative, Monsanto has also found ways to cultivate certain journalists to carry its messaging. Monsanto’s internal documents show that when the company wanted to discredit the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) after the group classified Monsanto’s glyphosate weed killer as a probable carcinogen, Monsanto turned to a London-based Reuters reporter with specific story suggestions.

The emails show that a controversial story published in June 2017 by Reuters, raising questions about the integrity of the IARC’s review of glyphosate, was secretly fed to the news agency by Monsanto executive Sam Murphey. Murphey gave the reporter documents that had not yet been filed publicly in court along with a desired story narrative and a slide deck of suggested points to make in the story. The story, which did not disclose Monsanto as the initial source, closely followed Monsanto’s suggestions, the emails show.

Another newly released email details how Monsanto’s fingerprints were on at least two other Reuters stories about the IARC. A 1 March 2016 email speaks of the involvement of Monsanto’s “Red Flag” campaign in a Reuters story critical of IARC and Monsanto’s desire to influence a second, similar story Reuters was planning. Red Flag is a Dublin-based PR and lobbying firm. According to the email, “following engagement by Red Flag a number of months ago, the first piece was quite critical of IARC.” The email goes on: “You may also be aware that Red Flag is in touch with Reuters regarding the second report in the series…”

A little over a month later, Reuters published a story headlined “Special Report: How the World Health Organization’s cancer agency confuses consumers.”

The stories in question were shared by ACSH, the American Chemistry Council, Monsanto and others

In Europe, French prosecutors are now probing Monsanto’s campaign to manipulate journalists and others, including secret files on influential individuals compiled by Monsanto public relations firm FleishmanHillard. Bayer AG, the German company that acquired Monsanto last June, has admitted that FleishmanHillard created lists of people in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom on behalf of Monsanto. The company has apologized for the secret files and said it is hiring an external law firm to investigate the matter.

In the United States, Raymond Kerins, Bayer’s head of communications, told me that the company “stands for openness and fair dealings, with all of our audiences, including the news media.”

The comment rings hollow as the character attack pieces on me and other journalists continue to circulate and Monsanto’s history of harassment and media manipulation seems to be growing – just as the number of plaintiffs alleging Roundup causes cancer also grows.

It’s time for the dishonesty to end.

Washington Post fact-check exposes how far media will go to cover up economic inequality

Jeff Bezos: apple or orange but definitely not to be compared with poor people [shudder]

Fact-checking is a thriving media industry, but every now and then a fact-checker offers up a judgment so questionable that it shows just how biased a person can be in the name of “facts.” Take The Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler and team and a fact—yes, fact, accepted by Kessler as “numbers that add up”—offered by Sen. Bernie Sanders in last Thursday’s debate. “Three people in this country own more wealth than the bottom half of America,” said Sanders.

Sanders’ information came from a report by the Institute for Policy Studies, which found that Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Warren Buffett had a combined wealth of $248.5 billion, compared to the $245 billion in wealth of the bottom 50% of Americans.

It’s pretty straightforward: $248.5 billion is more than $245 billion. Then Kessler got his hands on it, suggesting that Sanders was “comparing apples to oranges” because “people in the bottom half have essentially no wealth, as debts cancel out whatever assets they might have. So the comparison is not especially meaningful.”

So is he suggesting that rich people and poor people are apples and oranges that cannot reasonably be compared? Who exactly doesn’t count as “people” in this take? Kessler can’t argue with the numbers, so he hand-waves them as “not especially meaningful.”

Sanders made his point correctly: that economic inequality is massive and many, many people in the U.S. are essentially without wealth. That wealth in this country keeps getting sucked upward, leaving huge numbers of people behind. So, again, who does Glenn Kessler think is an apple and who is an orange, and why exactly can’t we compare the wealth held by rich people and the wealth held by poor and average people?

again the media does not bring this up and it is false equivalency that clintons trip with the Secret Service which we know no SS agent is going to allow serious crimes like this to occur on their watch, especially for Clinton. And the media is not bringing up that a female brought a case of rape with Epstein against Trump and filed the case. again the media is liberal no way... if liberal they would bring up the fact of that case...

.

Bill Clinton Says He ‘Knows Nothing’ About Epstein Sex Crimes

Quote:
Former President Bill Clinton’s spokesperson said Monday he did not know anything about the crimes committed by billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The Center for Responsible Politics reported that Epstein donated $139,000 to Democratic federal candidates and committees between 1989 to 2003 via their website opensecrets.org.

“President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York,” Clinton’s press secretary, Angel Ureña, tweeted a statement Monday.

He then detailed the extent of the interactions between Clinton and Epstein: “In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein’s airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation. Staff, supporters of the Foundation, and his Secret Service detail traveled on every leg of every trip.”

“He had one meeting with Epstein in his Harlem office in 2002, and around the same time made one brief visit to Epstein’s New York apartment with a staff member and his security detail,” Ureña continued. “He’s not spoken to Epstein in well over a decade, and has never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico, or his residence in Florida.”

Quote:
24 years before he was elected as President of the United States, Donald Trump reportedly asked a Florida event planner to throw a private party for him and his then-friend, billionaire investor Jeffrey Epstein, at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

The only other guests at the proposed 1992 party would be 28 girls flown in from out of state for a “calendar girl” competition.

The event planner, George Houraney of American Dream Enterprise, told the New York Times that he was hesitant to throw the party, as it had Jeffrey Epstein’s name attached to it, and Houraney knew that Epstein had a penchant for sexually pursuing young girls.

“I said, ‘Donald, this is supposed to be a party with V.I.P.s. You’re telling me it’s you and Epstein?’ ” Houraney recalled. “I said, ‘Look, Donald, I know Jeff really well, I can’t have him going after younger girls,’

“[Trump] said, ‘Look I’m putting my name on this. I wouldn’t put my name on it and have a scandal,’ ” Houraney added.

According to the Times, both Trump and Epstein were frequently seen together at Mar-a-Lago in the 1990s and 2000s, suggesting that the two had attended parties together at Trump’s elite resort property for at least a decade or more. Trump associates — like his longtime confidant, Roger Stone — downplayed the relationship, saying Trump treated Epstein just as he treated other guests at his club.

Mr. Epstein was never a dues-paying member of the Mar-a-Lago club, according to an official at the Trump Organization. But as a guest of a guest, he was treated like a close friend by the club’s owner and self-appointed headwaiter, Mr. Trump.

The two were photographed together there in the 1990s and early 2000s, Mr. Trump always in a tie, Mr. Epstein always without. And in Manhattan, they attended many of the same dinner parties, like the one that Mr. Epstein hosted for Prince Andrew, where the guest list also included Ron Perelman and Mort Zuckerman, among others.

Prior to a falling out that has never been fully explained, Trump and Epstein were close friends, and their circles frequently intermingled, as both maintained homes in New York City and south Florida. In 2002, Trump told New York Magazine that he and Epstein went back for more than a decade, and called him a “terrific guy.”

“He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side,” Trump said at the time. “No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

In 2008, while facing charges of sexually preying on young girls, Epstein struck a plea deal with current Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta, who, at the time, was the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. The deal gave Epstein legal immunity if he served just a 13-month jail sentence for prostitution charges. Epstein was allowed to work from a private office outside of the prison for 12 hours a day, six days a week, while staying in a secluded wing of the prison away from the general population.

Jeffrey Epstein is back in the news this week after an indictment against him was unsealed. The indictment alleges that Epstein engaged in serial sex trafficking, and that he possessed “a vast trove” of child pornography. He could serve up to 45 years in prison if convicted of the charges.

How the Sunday morning network shows became willing Trump enablers

Quote:
Eric Boehlert for Daily Kos

When it comes to the Sunday morning network talk shows, no other influential media platform has done so little to adjust its approach to our radical, untruthful president. Sticking to their staid, deeply respectful format where Republican government officials are treated as perpetual truth-tellers, the Sunday shows remain proudly and utterly oblivious to the seismic changes Donald Trump and his dishonest cohorts have ushered into the Beltway. That means Trump and the GOP emerge as the big Sunday morning winners—and that also means the shows have become some of Trump’s key enablers.

Hosting wildly imbalanced panel discussions that favor conservative voices, routinely ignoring breaking scandal stories that could damage the White House, and treating Trump and his radical Republican allies as utterly normal, the Sunday morning network shows on ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox, and NBC consistently present a false picture of American politics during the past few years, and consistently whitewash the dangerous contours of the Trump presidency.

For most Sunday shows, booking the guests now seems to be the paramount act of journalism, and everything after that is just filler. This means Republicans representing Trump appear on the shows to promote his nonstop lies and are met with, at best, timid pushback. Hosts seem to think their job in the Trump era is to provide the president and his top officials a comfortable platform to tell more blatant untruths.

That unfortunate trend was on clear display when Trump himself sat for a lengthy interview on Meet the Press. Hosted by Chuck Todd, who Trump has mercilessly mocked and insulted in the past, the interview appeared to be a textbook example of how not to handle a chronic liar during a one-on-one interview.

"To wit, the Mad King’s interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press” was another example of the perpetually nauseating confluence of Trump’s gratuitous lies and a TV news reporter too timid to treat him like the despot he is," wrote Bob Cesca. "Instead, Trump routinely steamrolls interviewers like Todd, knowing that the press will continue to behave as though he were just another generic president, worthy of the same compliant, nonconfrontational attitude we witnessed during previous, comparatively “normal” administrations."

There's nothing normal about a sitting president who lies virtually every time he makes a public pronouncement, the way he did on the NBC program.
