This is true--but hardly the full story:

Quote:
Ya know, just because someone doesn't agree with someone or a group doesn't automatically mean they hate them

However, the constant use of the same set of fake facts by the hard right, the constant use of disparaging comments about liberals (e.g. Isobars hardly original libertards), contempt for unions power--which is dwarfed by that of corporations, and repeated use of terms for Obama which stress his "otherness" as a thinly veiled reference to his skin color--those are all aspects of hate speak.

RR in particular is fond of lecturing the others on the forum about their language--while using much the same. The particular set of fake facts here is Federal taxation, as if that was the only source of taxation.

The current right is prone to blame the progressive tax system, which has been part of this country's culture and institutions since the inception of income tax. In the early 1960's the marginal rate of that tax was 91%. It had declined to 28% by 1988, and was increased again to 39.6% in 1993. The Reagan and Bush anti-tax efforts didn't merely lower the marginal taxes on income--they also significantly decreased estate taxes and capped payments into Social Security. These three changes in the tax code, along with the inability of Congress to alter ongoing programs much, account for most of the structural disbalance in the Federal budget.

Most of the debate recently has been over restoring the marginal rate of 39.6%--the rate under Reagan. Blaming it on Obama and calling it socialism is just stupid. If it were socialist, then we must have had a socialist economy and nation until the early 1960's, eh?

Obama sits pretty much in the middle of the Democratic party political spectrum. He is concerned about the long-term implications of the national debt, and has sought middle ground with the Republicans on several occasions--naively perhaps. Those to the right of him in the party want more cuts, those to the left want more revenue, and will resist cuts to Social Security and Medicare. But on the GOP side, the practical nature of Reagan has been replaced by the intransigence and bullying of Norquist. Virtually all of the Republicans have signed a no tax pledge.

The GOP characterization of Obama on budget issues is dishonest and a clear aspect of hate-speak, parroted here by those who only get their news from right wing rags.

So right wing nuts, knuckle draggers...whatever party, whoever directed at...hate speech, right? Strong term hate, if I don't agree with you so I guess I'm hating? How about political smear campaigns, hate? Disagreeing with union's tactics, hate? Wow! Really?!?!

Sometimes I wish my 18 yr old daughter would get a part time job and stop sponging of her old man (me). That MUST mean I hate her, right? I'm such a horrible father!

mac has been found out by another.

It could be a simple case of transference, the hater blames those who don't agree with him, on hate.

Substance boys, substance. You pretty much ignore all rebuttals of your fake facts don't you? You can't handle the truth.

How is this for substance. $600 million to write 5 million lines of code for the Obama care website. All complete gibberish. They could have paid monkeys to write this thing.

The whole thing is nonsense. $600 million? For what? And we expect them to do a good job with our healthcare?

"I think the part you forgot is once those college students get a real job with real income they soon realise how much it hurts to sit down from getting reemed so clean of their earnings and that the graduated tax plan sucks the incentive out of their efforts. They soon wake up to reality after that shock sets in and the Preparation H stops working."

reinerehlers, what do you think folks think when you conjure up such a scene? I have to guess that you think that it's a humorous take with all the homosexual overtones with the government taking advantage of naive idealistic young folks hitting the job market. Really, it's just nonsense crafted up to show your disdain for government. You might not want to call it hate, but when stuff like that surfaces repeatedly over time, others can easily come to that conclusion.

It's no big surprise to me where your picking up your views, because stuff like that readily comes from the right these days. It's not a stretch to say that you're coming out of isobars' territory, because he often offers much the same kind of commentary. You might not want to admit to a hateful point of view and would prefer to dress it up with other words like "Disgusted, frustrated, annoyed, (or) disagree", but at the bottom line it reflects your style and outlook. It hasn't taken long for you to show your unhappiness with quite a few things in society and government.

RR--the master of persuasive prose. You say I disagree by saying I disagree. You provide specific reasons. This is an ad hominem attack--and enough of them constitute hate speech:

Quote:
thug mob AKA unions.

You have equated the workers organization who gave us the weekend as a criminal gang and perhaps the mafia. But you were very persuasive--to those who hate unions.

Who cast the first stone in that post?

Well, if you're going to cast stones, you might want to put the shutters up:

Quote:
Sorry for the spelling mistakes, I didn't get to go to college and learn to dislike rich white folk, and spell.

What I'm suggesting is that if you want to rant about other people's competence--you might want to do it competently! I'll let you choose the embarrassed emoticon. Laughing

OK you guys got me , I'm a big hater and you're oh so wonderfully peachy. Can I borrow your rose colored glasses? Do you put those on before or after your condescending assuming comments about how ALL the right thinks or does. I get it everything the left does is so pretty with the glasses on.
BTW, nice days learning front side on 5.2 / 95 quad with my French Canadian friends. Those guys sure can sail, GuyT throwing some nice dry forwards! It might have washed the hate out a bit too. What did you do today?
