'Disturbing as hell': NRA slammed for giving 'Thomas & Friends' characters a KKK makeover

NRATV went straight for ratings during a recent segment blasting the Nick Jr. kids’ show Thomas & Friends for diversifying its characters.

The divisive gun organization’s spokeswoman Dana Loesch, who was hosting her show Relentless, wasn’t happy that two female characters, Rebecca and Nia, are joining Thomas, Percy, and the gang, declaring the decision “horrible” and launching on what can only be described as a bizarre rant as an image splashed on the screen of the famous trains wearing Ku Klux Klan hoods. Loesch was especially angry that one of the female characters is from Kenya.

“Thomas the Tank is now bringing gender balance to the show by adding girl trains. Seriously,” she snipped about the preschool show, which she dubbed “creepy.” Loesch ranted that the show doesn’t need “ethnic diversity” when it “literally has no ethnicities because they’re trains. …

“I’m really, really struggling to understand how in the world there isn’t any diversity in any of this,” she said as the controversial image of the trains, in KKK hoods, on burning tracks appeared. “Oh, I see it — it was the white hoods. And the burning train tracks. OK, fine, fair point. Fair. I get it. Thomas the Tank Engine has been a blight on race relations for far too long. Clearly this is overdue. Right? Seriously? With trains?”

this is what I see standard issue dispute with right wingers.... really shows right-wing family values and what is important. See the weapons present circled, watch this disturbing right-wing typical video.

this video should be played at NRA meetings and watch their base love it. I bet MalibuBarfie, MADD-dy and LowIQ30 take this to the bathroom and pleasure themselves with it.

A Texas man and his son have been charged after allegedly killing their neighbor over a fight about disposing a mattress.

Suspect in shooting of 7 South Carolina officers bragged about marksmanship
The slain officer, Terrence Carraway, had just been honored for 30 years of service with the Florence Police Department

A Vietnam veteran who bragged online about maintaining his target-shooting skills was being held Thursday on charges that he shot seven law enforcement officers, killing one, when deputies tried to serve a search warrant at his home.

Authorities said Frederick Hopkins opened fire on the deputies from inside the home and held children hostage while shooting long-range at other officers who rushed to the suburban neighborhood.

The sheriff department's armored personnel carrier was brought in to recover the wounded during Wednesday's two-hour standoff in Florence, and the gunman finally released the children as he was taken into custody, authorities said.

"Officers went there unknowing the firepower the suspect had," Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone said at a news conference.

"Fire was being shot all over. The way this suspect was positioned, his view of fire was several hundred yards. So he had an advantage. The officers couldn't get to the ones who were down."

Records show Hopkins, 74, is a disabled Vietnam veteran and disbarred lawyer who has faced several charges in recent years, including a 2014 count of disorderly conduct.

Authorities have not described what weapons were involved, but Hopkins apparently owned several guns. A 2014 post on his Facebook page said he celebrated his 70th birthday at a shooting range by repeatedly firing his M-14 rifle, set up exactly like the one he used in Vietnam.

"I have been shooting competitively since 1984 and lovin' it. I just love the smell of gunpowder in the mornin's," said the post. Other posts from 2016 show images of rifles set up on what looks like a range and say he was the "South Carolina 3-Gun Silhouette Champion for 2011."

Here's where the nation may be headed if the anti-gun freaks have it their way. A Washington state city has proposed a law (Google it yourself; it's too long to post here) that includes making the original owner liable up to the level of felony if a gun stolen from him is used in a crime. The theft is prima facie evidence that the gun was carelessly stored, and its subsequent usability is prima facie evidence that the owner didn't take the necessary steps to render it inoperative in others' hands.

"But, yer honor, the $200 gun had a $1,000 interlock system keyed to my fingerprints and retinas and was cast in concrete, sealed in a 5,000 pound safe I didn't even have the combination to, and buried with Jimmy Hoffa. How can you sentence me to 20 years in a high-security prison?"

"It's the law, you scum. The very fact that some gang banger found it, took it, cleaned it up, got it working, and shot another banger with it is proof of your complicity in the death of a Crip. Hope you rot in hell, pastor."

#1: This was a state wide initiative in Washington, not a law proposed by one city. The initiative was to change State law. The initiativee passed by almost 60%. Don't you live in Washington? Did you vote in the mid-terms? Maybe all those pop up ads are blocking your ability to obtain accurate information. Again, almost 60% of the people living in your State approved of the initiative.

#2: The law is not as you describe:

"The initiative would create new criminal offenses for the unsafe storage of a firearm if a person who cannot legally possess a firearm gets it and uses it in specified ways. These crimes would apply to a person who stores or leaves a firearm in a place where the person knows, or reasonably should know, that a prohibited person may gain access to the firearm. Failure to securely store a firearm would only be a crime if certain other events happen. A person who fails to securely store a firearm would be guilty of a felony if a person who is legally ineligible to possess a firearm uses it to cause personal injury or death. A person who fails to securely store a firearm would be guilty of a gross misdemeanor if a person who is legally ineligible to possess a firearm discharges it, uses it in a way that shows intent to intimidate someone or that warrants alarm for the safety of others, or uses the firearm in the commission of a crime.

The initiative would not mandate how or where a firearm must be stored. But it would provide that the crimes regarding unsecure storage would sometimes not apply. Those crimes would not apply if the firearm was in secure gun storage, meaning a locked box, gun safe, or other locked storage space that is designed to prevent unauthorized use or discharge of a firearm. The crimes also would not apply if the firearm was secured with a trigger lock or similar device that is designed to prevent the unauthorized use or discharge of the firearm. The crimes would not apply if the person who gets the firearm is ineligible to possess it because of age but the access is with parental permission and under adult supervision. The crimes would not apply in cases of self-defense. Finally, the crimes would not apply if the person who is ineligible to possess a firearm obtains it through unlawful entry, if the unauthorized access or theft is reported to law enforcement within five days of the time the victim knew or should have known that the firearm had been taken."

"NEW SECTION. Sec. 5. SECURE GUN STORAGE. A new section is
added to chapter 9.41 RCW to read as follows:
(1) A person who stores or leaves a firearm in a location where
the person knows, or reasonably should know, that a prohibited
person may gain access to the firearm:
(a) Is guilty of community endangerment due to unsafe storage of
a firearm in the first degree if a prohibited person obtains access
and possession of the firearm and causes personal injury or death
with the firearm; or
(b) Is guilty of community endangerment due to unsafe storage of
a firearm in the second degree if a prohibited person obtains access
and possession of the firearm and:
(i) Causes the firearm to discharge;
(ii) Carries, exhibits, or displays the firearm in a public
place in a manner that either manifests an intent to intimidate
another or that warrants alarm for the safety of other persons; or
(iii) Uses the firearm in the commission of a crime.
(2)(a) Community endangerment due to unsafe storage of a firearm
in the first degree is a class C felony punishable according to
chapter 9A.20 RCW.
(b) Community endangerment due to unsafe storage of a firearm in
the second degree is a gross misdemeanor punishable according to
chapter 9A.20 RCW.
(3) Subsection (1) of this section does not apply if:
11
(a) The firearm was in secure gun storage, or secured with a
trigger lock or similar device that is designed to prevent the
unauthorized use or discharge of the firearm;
(b) In the case of a person who is a prohibited person on the
basis of the person's age, access to the firearm is with the lawful
permission of the prohibited person's parent or guardian and
supervised by an adult, or is in accordance with RCW 9.41.042;
(c) The prohibited person obtains, or obtains and discharges,
the firearm in a lawful act of self-defense; or
(d) The prohibited person's access to the firearm was obtained
as a result of an unlawful entry, provided that the unauthorized
access or theft of the firearm is reported to a local law
enforcement agency in the jurisdiction in which the unauthorized
access or theft occurred within five days of the time the victim of
the unlawful entry knew or reasonably should have known that the
firearm had been taken.
(4) If a death or serious injury occurs as a result of an
alleged violation of subsection (1)(a) of this section, the
prosecuting attorney may decline to prosecute, even though
technically sufficient evidence to prosecute exists, in situations
where prosecution would serve no public purpose or would defeat the
purpose of the law in question.
(5) For the purposes of this section, "prohibited person" means
a person who is prohibited from possessing a firearm under state or
federal law.
(6) Nothing in this section mandates how or where a firearm must
be stored."
