Keystone pipe dream, or pipeline?

Those of us in the construction industry call it "California Concrete"! Cement is an ingredient of concrete.

I lived in So. Calif. for a couple years and skied twenty days a year at Mammoth. "Cornice" ridge is great! Month of June is great skiing too...hit the hot springs on the way, halter top babes (less at the springs), camping out instead of hotels, big drop back country bowls...

Since we are wasting time talking skiing (great idea), how about your top 3 dumbest skiing stories!

For me (all before age 20).

3) Trying to roll a joint on a chair in the Upper Peninsula of MI when it’s -20F below zero and wind blows the last of the weed out of the paper. Doo!

2)Trying to get home late at night stoned (and drunk) down and unlit run at Elk Mountain in Pennsylvania. It’s like trying to ski blind. I don’t recommend it. Luckily, my buddy knew where he was going.

1) My friend and his brother who lived in Steamboat at the time, convinced me and my brother to go tubing late one night. As locals, they did this stuff all the time. They had a condo off the Christie chair to the left. We head up the North Headwall, inner tubes in hand. A little moonlight to show the way. After what seemed like way too much time climbing, my friend says, “this is good”. Before I knew it everyone is off. Time for me to go.

Now I have never been inner tubing before (or since), but my recollection was incredible acceleration, followed by bumps, followed by... Whump! I’m airborn. Waiting...waiting... still airborn, with enough time to think, ”this is not good”. Then I land. But it wasn’t hard landing. Very soft, thank God. I couldn’t see a thing and had no idea what I went off. I knew I flew off something and landed in powder, but had no idea where. The ride wasn’t over. I was still moving, only down. Slowly sinking. Pitch black but I could tell I was sinking. The next sensation was water!

I went off a small ridge, landed in powder and sank into a frozen creek. Scurried up the embankment, lucky I didn’t hit a tree! Scared out of my mind. Real dumb.

Chickening out half way through a front flip. This is why I never tried a back flip!

Toyota skiing. Sadly, I was about 40 at the time. Ski behind a toyota truck down a snow packed road with a couple of linked old motorcycle tie downs as a tow rope. More points for air on the snow banks. Hint you can go over the snow piles but not back the other way. And, do not use skinny cross country skis. Use a longer rope. Driver must not hit brakes if she thinks you are in trouble!

And, because my So Dak. ski area was sooo boring... riding around the bull wheel and skiing the powder shot on the embankment (I think they added the safety switch the next season...had to change clothes in the car to avoid detection). Note to Terry Peak ski patrollers...ski some trees once in awhile so you know the escape routes too!

I used to ski on 215 length downhill racing skis. Did a massive jump at extreme high speed. Very bad landing. Needed rescue with dislocated shoulder. No helmet back then.

I was young!!

That second scene in Macs video is the top of Chamonix. If you look closely at 6 and 7 seconds you can see the tram on left side of spire near the bottom of the screen. Awesome Video!!!!!
