In my experience a MFC fin and a True Ames fin can be exactly the same length and area, yet have very different performance.

MFC fins are thin like a knife so they feel "slippery." Once you're going fast they provide good lift with minimal drag, but they don't give you much to push against to get going, or to get upwind when you're not fully powered.

True Ames fins have a much thicker cross section so they start providing lift at a lower speed, giving you more to push against for early planing and upwind performance.

I think the best fin for early planing on your 75 cm wide board would be a 50 cm True Ames fin. I wouldn't recommend going longer than a 50 cm fin on a 75 cm wide board. Rule of thumb is don't let the fin length exceed the width of the board under the back footstraps.

PS- As you and others have pointed out, an 80-100 cm wide board would definitely be more ideal for a 9.5.
