Okespor Floridas. Ankle protection, easy on and off. Don't look dorky with a shorty. Well, not too dorky.

One more vote for Atan. Barefoot control and will not get stuck in the straps.

One other factor not mentioned which is a big issue for me. I sail formula and slalom with outboard foot straps. I put a lot of forward pressure on feet and without an arch strap over the top of my foot, my toes take a huge beating (good buy toenails). I have been using Okespor Gorge for many years and love them.

I have always worn booties and I have never had a cut foot in 30 years of windsurfing. The split toe feel really bad/strange on my feet so I never bought a pair

In cold weather, I use O'Neil non split 5mm booties. They are great and the arch strap really makes a difference.

I'm also trying Vibram Five Fingers Signa for warm weather, in order to prevent cuts and increase adherence on my slippery board. The feeling is just great, better than naked feet for me! There is a caveat however. In a high speed crash, the heel of the shoe slipped off. Maybe the strap was not tight enough? Their other models like the Flow feature more straps so they may be better.

They are hard to put on (you feel like you're a 2 YO trying to put on gloves) but the great feeling compensates.

What do you guys think of these? At half the price of the Atans they look like they could work, if they don't slip off. My experiment at gluing the Atans back together didn't exactly workout as hoped.

Need arch strap.
Would be nice to have cinch strap around ankle on low booties.
Toes like to poke thru the top of the front of boot.

I don't need an arch strap. The cinch strap would be nice. I'm basically looking for something to cover the bottom on my foot from shells/sticks/glass.

The toe poking through could be a problem but it would also be really easy on the toes...

I think I'll just get another pair of Atans and watch where I step more carefully.

The arch strap is needed to keep your toes from sliding forwards inside the booties until you jam your toes.
When you're in the straps, your feet tend to slide waaaay forwards inside the booties because the strap holds the sides of the booties, but the toes are free.
