Aug 26 starts with under powered 5.0 until way in the middle, then soon the wind comes up to well to way overpowered. 45' of too much sail (still fun) followed by a long time just perfectly powered up at around the north tower. Wind dies inside and coming back to shore is the first swim of the season from just inside Anita. Swimming good ...
Aug 27 pretty much the same pattern, much more choppy at the North tower/Marina but nice conditions in the middle and windier overall ... not bad at all for end of August!
Aug 28: end of the party. Wind is very light inside and I wait to see what the wind is doing instead of just rigging the 6.6. Few people get out and reach the wind line but by 3:30 the fog rolls in vengefully. Big thick rolls under the bridge at sea level, followed by higher banks ... by the time I leave everybody is coming back and the place looks like Scotland in a bad day.

Friday Berkeley....
I guess, after several starts and fits, it get's steady around 5, goes for 2 hours, stutters, and comes back for another hour.
4.7 and 95 liters, SW winds, smooth water with a few wind swells for little hops.
I find, no matter how I rig the 4.7, it's still a 4.7. It just doesn't plane when the winds reach 18 mph. Fine from 23-30+ though. |

Took out the 8.0 (again) with the wind at 13 in the channel, slogged a bit but got going after the first tack. Slow increase in the wind so not even the kiters with the hydrofoils ventured out at 2. Played around by the Hayward end because there was less chop and a bit less wind. Nice 6 mile ride back. A friend at Coyote cautioned me about sailing big too often as you become less inclined to sail small. I hope not as I'm like most grizzled boardheads., I prefer to sail 4.7/5.2 with the smaller board. That said, I have sailed the big ass sail 17 times already this month alone, but only because its a new toy for me and we've had so many shitty SW days this year on the Peninsula. |

Ya, Sat. Berk was fun, 5.2 and 80 liter wave board, lots of little chop hops, tide too low for real jumps. |

Nice to see so many familiar faces! Like a Sunday family brunch!
Out with slalom board and 6.6 pretty much powered up all afternoon but very up and down, most frees tylers out with smaller sails (4.2-4.7) struggle but still do the things that one cannot really understand how they are done
Warm, sort hazy, September is coming almost time to say good bye to Crissy. |

After about 14 years of sailing Crissy, maybe close to a thousand days, I can safely say, you have another month and a half of Crissy 5.5 days left.
It can go up to the third or 4th big rain event, then thermals die out.
Low rain years usually equal out to early Nov. before it's over. |
