I have to admit that it has been some time since I sailed Coyote Point, but I have to ask, is it necessary now to launch in an area where you have climb over ice plant to get to the water?

Sat. Berkeley at 3, 6.6 Ezzy Infinity and first SuperSport109, then HiFly Free 98, then back to SS at around 4, when the tide dropped and the water smoothed out.
Well powered, long runs, gusts between 17-22 mph, for a variety of angles and speed. Came in at close to 6, when one Formula went out with a 9.2 and sailed up to top of the pier and back in half an hour, very powered.

Swchandler - Coyote had a major make over a couple of years ago with ramps put in and a new rock wall. However the best ramp for windsurfers isn't at the far left or upwind side of the beach so some enterprising sailers dropped a few sand bags down so you can launch upwind.

Did Coyote again this Sunday with the big board and an 8.0 Retro at 3 pm. It was about 10-12 on the inside and 15 at the wind line and the 8.0 worked well. I was pretty much planing the entire session and was trying to find the comfort zone with the wide board/big sail and a seat harness that I just purchased for big sail cruising. It was a fun session. This picture shows the middle launch ramp at Coyote. There's one more by Boardsports that the kiters use. For those who don't know the area, SFO is out yonder towards the hills.

Wiindsurfed Natural Bridges last Wednesday and today. Both times on my Angulo 10' 10" and my Ezzy 7.0. Just small swell last Wednesday, but although long lulls in-between, today's swell could reach 6' on the face. Windsurfed by Sidewalks mostly. Several Surfers off of Longs and one for a short while at Sidewalks. Two other windsurfers out part of the time on small gear and sailing out farther for the most part. Wind was generally stronger outside.
WeatherUnderground indicated that we had a high of 94 degrees in Aptos today. Hot at the beach as well. Falling in felt good.

I was out with you at NBs on Sunday- 5.5 and Quatro 110 Quad. It was pretty powered on the outside; but the tide was a few feet too high for the waves to start breaking out where I still had enough wind to catch them. You were definitely on those way-inside sets, where I would have been swimming back out if I'd slogged in enough to try to catch them. Super hot, though, probably the first time I've put my sail away dry in a few years.
The wind on Saturday was a lot better, pretty wound on a 4.9 and filled in almost all the way to the beach. With high tide an hour earlier, I managed to snag a few of the first waves to show up from the early-season west swell.

4.7/101 freestyle board from 1 to 3 at Haskins. Light with sporadic gusts (15-20) the first hour with a bit stronger gusts after 2 pm. On a good day the entire cove has good strong wind coming down from the gap. Most days are like today..the wind coming in spurts, you have to anticipate the wind, get the board planing quickly, and make your transition moves while you are planing. The launch is just below the South City recycle center. Not sure if anyone other than some kiters use the original spot at the end of Haskin's Way.
The climb down to the water is fairly steep with dirt, ice plants and rip rap. An even tougher climb back up after your session.
What is referred to as Tigers is about 300 yards downwind towards the last airport hanger.

High tide, smooth water, plenty of wind. Just a tad chilly.

Another pleasant pre-fall day at the Stick in what ought to be my most boring season in quite a while! Mostly Isonic 111 with the 6.6 GPS and for a while the Patrik 100 that brakes 31 knots on a nice downwind run.
I was just complaining about the Patrik in days past. It is a great board on the straights, goes fast, very easy when overpowered ... but I really had a hard time turning it. I can turn the Is-111, my CA 52 (!), my CA 58 with no problem but the bummer was always dropping off the plane ... until today.
I thought: "I have to find a way to get into the turn without loosing any speed". So at the start of the transition I put foot just in front of the rear strap a bit toward the center, not on the opposite rail, barely changing the asset and speed the board. Then go ... and by magic the thingy goes around as on rails! now up to 90% planing jibes. As it should! Now some more practice, but I might have finally figured the tricky board out

Thought that the local pond at Palo Alto might have wind this Wednesday. Got there after 2 pm and the wind only at 15 mph. Paired my Fanatic freewave with a 5.9 Volt hoping that the wind would not kick in too strong right away. Instead of getting stronger the wind went totally offshore at SW 230 after my first run out towards the Newark side of the south bay. WTF! Wind became shifty and very off and on. When I did plane it was almost parallel to the shoreline. Only two of us sailing at the time.
