I'm convinced that Oysters has been written off as a windsurf sailing site. The last 3 or 4 years I've yet to see anyone on the water save for some kiters brought out to Tigers by jet-ski. I was planing on 100L RRD/5.9 Volt at launch to Flying Tigers without a hiccup. 17 mph bump/jump conditions at Tigers. Later on I attempted to make it to the Stick but was stopped dead at Sierra Pt. You need strong SW wind to make it past Sierra to the Stick.
My wife of 47 yrs has been worried because I always seem to sail alone..just bought a personal locator beacon (ACR PLB-375) to somewhat reassure her.

Love the pics, Loopy. And the phrase for the second one made me laugh.

What is the location of the pics?

That sure looks like the Davenport wave. Really nice swell. Was that from the south or west?

Blast from the past 5.0/90L session at Dumbarton Bridge just past noon. The combo worked best on the Newark side because of the west winds. Small swells in the middle and flat water towards the east shore.

The relay between Stick and Crissy is in full swing. I decide to skip Crissy on a Sunday and here I am at Stick with the usual fellows.

Looks pretty good and rig 4.3, by the time I am finished it is time to rig 5 and then I go. 5.0/85L works nicely for a good while, but then the wind first turns south (and you can get almost to Sierra Point) and than drops a bit, and then turns REALLY north (I am pointing a good 90 degrees higher on starboard at one point!).

Then it drops ... and off we go to the beach. Did not even got my legs wet but it was fun Very Happy

Tomorrow rain again !? wow !!?

Strange day with very gusty conditions for our area, perhaps because the front just to the north (bay area) was moving thru. 84L 4.7 rigged max down/out worked pretty well given it was 3.5 to 5.0 conditions. Going DTL could be lite, just right, or flag pole time. Hopefully more normal stuff tomorrow.

2 hrs on the longboard at Palo Alto in light conditions on Monday. The Kona glides fast in light winds but will rise out of the water like the Nautilus in stronger breezes. 7.3 North/Kona CarbOne.

Hi Bert,

Does the Carbone perform any better in strong breezes if you move the mast base all the way forward?

Regards,

W1

windward,

Not sure..will try that on a 20+ day and let you know. I do need to sail it more to realize the board's full potential. Plan to do some bay crossings with the CarbOne later on this year.
