It was a tongue and cheek comment. Your sense of humor is apparent and appreciated but that other cat is kind of bossy.

Thank you for the concern.

Actually I tried to go out at Natural Bridges yesterday. I had just gotten a new Chinook boom on Monday evening and wanted to try it out. Rigged the Ezzy and hiked to the shoreline. On the way, a teenage girl told me that she did not think I should be doing what I was about to do because of a shark attack that had just happened. When I asked where, she said near Lighthouse Point and that the attacked person was unharmed. I asked if the beach was officially closed or just warnings out. She did not know. I said, well they are out there all the time as that is where they live and continued out to the shoreline. Several people told me of a shark attack on the walk across the beach. After setting the gear down to get ready to launch a lady said that a waverunner came by and said it was closed and that there was a $200.00 fine if you went in the water over your ankles. No one was in the water.

I was surprised, as usually they just post warnings in Santa Cruz and do not close the beaches. I looked at the conditions, which were perfect for what I had rigged. I wanted to go out. But I did not want to get fined. I decided to not go and hauled everything back up the hill and de-rigged.

When I got home, I found that the Fire Department had only closed the beaches from the San Lorenzo River Mouth to Fair Avenue. Guess the lifeguard on the waverunner was a little overzealous. I could have gone!

Tried to go today, but the south swell was really pounding in at Natural Bridges. I wanted to try my new boom out, but not break it. I checked Davenport, but the wind was only in single digits.

Sigh.....

5.5 seemed about right for sailors 155 lbs.

Weds at PI - near perfect on 5.5/106L. Even ventured over to Potrero Reach to do some speed jibes around the pylons.

What's not to like?

Time to broaden your horizons?

Cheers, David

I like the warm rigging area, the artificial grass, the fresh water hose, the easy on the feet launch, and the lack of sun in my eyes on port tack.
Plus, plenty of hotties at Cal Sail Club, and some even sail on short boards.
Is Carolyn Valk still windsurfing at Pt.Isa?

Well, you definitely have warmer rigging area, given that it is usually in severe wind shadow. I prefer launching right at the wind line - easier rig choice and less slogging, normally.

Hose will come with PI Launch Project improvements, next year. Launch path is already fairly user-friendly. Plus, there's a hose available at His Lords, if that alternative launch is of interest.

Carol sails at PI (or HLS) with the rest of us.

But we are already fairly crowded and you have to not mind dog poop..... Smile

Cheers, David

Well, I do miss sailing with Derek, Steve, Brian (bike rider nowadaze), you, Gordon, and the 60 year old crowd, but Berkeley has more guys who jump, some do modern freestyle, and lots learning old school freestyle, so it's more than just back and forth speeding along on 3 mile reach's.
My skinny legs can't handle even Berkeley's long reach's, so I usually do 6 reach's for each of Cyndahls one reach.
