Foiled at Coyote these past 2 days on a 5.0. It's been blowing in the low to mid 20's at SFO and I'm able to hold the board down by hiking out in a forward stance and applying lots of downward pressure on the boom as well as my front leg as I go upwind..without feeling that brutal flood chop! I'm trying different tactics to master the foil jibe. Today I moved my front foot to the middle as I carved into the turn before sail flip. It worked the first time but got more difficult as the wind picked up. I'll try again tomorrow. Someone with more coordination and flexibility could probably nail the foil jibe much quicker. Sadly as we get older these traits diminish..my fast twitch muscle reaction more resembles the early stages of rigor mortis these days Crying or Very sad

BTW, BoardSports at Coyote has the Slingshot foil board for rent and will soon have the Naish foil available in September. Good way to try it out., especially later on in the season when the winds become milder and the water less choppy. You just need to wear a helmet if you rent one out.

Bay Area Heat Wave means windsuck everywhere...good thing I have a windsup to deal with the windsuck. Sailed a little over an hour at the stick yesterday planning more than half of the time. A few freestylers were there as well. Already pass 3PM today, 104 F, not too promising...will see. With Rio Vista at 108F, means no 5 o'clock express.

My windsup beat up windsuck big time at the stick today (Friday). What a fun afternoon it was! Not often had I sailed in 90F+ air and 75F+ water temps in San Francisco Bay...may be never. Better wind today than yesterday. Sailed for about 1-1/2hrs mostly in planning conditions. All I missed was a pina colada at the beach. When I left at 7pm, the few free stylers were still out. Actually, I could have been on a 100 liter board myself. With warmer inland and cooler bay, will be good tomorrow too. Laughing

Not much relief in Santa Cruz 105 at the Grant Park Sensor
1 block from my house yesterday. (102 right now)
My house sensors say 112 on the sunny side and 100 on the shaded side today at 1:10 pm. Note this is where 17 comes into town.
90 right at the waters edge most places in town.
