C Street delivered a great 5.7 session today. My first since my thumb surgery on the 26th. Things went very well, so I know that I'm no longer beached.

Serious nukefest at TI Thurs and Friday. With averages near 30mph few were out on sails bigger than 5 meters. Nice rolling swell near the the launch and every sort of crazy chop further out. Rarely this windy at TI and even rarer in Sept.

Was out with RRD 85 + 4.3 and both days (at 160 pounds) I was quite seriously oversized. Could have easily used a 3.7! Very Happy Next time I'll bring it with a 75L Very Happy

Natural Bridges today. Blowing 15 to 20 knots. Sometimes cloudy, sometimes sunny. Four good folk out.

First in the water with 5.5/95 L freewave combo which was okay until the wind kicked in. Brutal ride in from the channel with bone jarring chop and 25-30 mph gusts. Switched to 4.2 and 80 L Realwind. Must say that there's nothing like a thin, skinnyass, old school board to handle the kind of chop you sometimes get at Coyote.

Natural Bridges today. Three windsurfers and one kiter out.
When the wind started dying and the others had gone in, I saw whales doing full-body-out-of-the-water-and-upside-down breaches, so I sailed out and watched. The wind died further and I headed back in to try and avoid a long swim. Made it. Only had to swim the last few yards.

Almost perfect 5.0 day at TI. Gorgeous weather, warm, lots of sailboats out ... so much fun to chase them and fraternize, from a distance, with the crews. But .. no windsurfers Shocked I get out at 2:45 and I am the only one out for a long while. Finally people start to trickle in and by 5, when the wind starts to go down, there is the usual 10-15 people crowd.

Not always true about the early bird catching the worm. Rigged 4.7/95 L at Oyster at 1 pm to make it out to Tigers, where it's been usually good for me...but not today. Wind was mild at the Tigers cove and 4.7 was too small so it was a slogfest for over an hour and half. Went back and forth, thinking the wind would kick in and it didn't. You might think that I'd be bummed out but I'm putting a positive spin on today. I got a nice tan while out there (and I'm already very dark), no need for a workout at the gym tonite because my biceps are already bulging from the slogfest, and my uphaul skills have been sharpened.. I can pick up and right the sail on one pull of the uphaul. Rolling Eyes

Decent flood conditions at Third last night and the night before. Last night was a bit better than Sunday. For me 94 liters and 5.3 both nights. Good lite wind and tacking practice. Last night planning 95% and the night before about 80%.

Bert - sorry to hear your Oyster sesh was not epic, but your attitude was! I figured this out a while back. If you are at the beach with your stuff and have already made the time commitment, then you should at least rig and get wet. The worst sesh windsurfing is still better than the best day at work (usually). Also, no matter what you are doing, your skills (slogging, up hauling, backwind sailing) improve.

Most folks at Third on Sunday stood around and moaned about conditions being too light. When I got off the water, I heard a few compliments about my making it look pretty good. I don't know about that, but I do know you won't improve in less than optimal conditions unless you practice in what ever conditions show up when you do. So - get out there!
