Nice 6.0 and 90 liter Carve day at Berkeley. 2-6 sunny, easy sailing. 162lbs. and off the East dock.

A surprisingly good day at the stick today (Wednesday), but you can't tell by looking at the WSW forecast and the sensor archive. Only three guys out. Got into the water around 3:45pm on my sweet 4.5/90 combination. It was a bit holely the first half hour but right when the sensor reading dropped to about 12 mph, mainly NW wind picked up and got really steady. Sailed till about 5:30pm. The 10 or so people who suffered mightily from yesterday's wacky gusty big day were nowhere to be found.

Very nice wind with the excellent ebb tide enabled The Flea to hop over the lip of a nice roller on the river this morning (upper left), do a cut back up the face (upper center and right), and catch the wave again (bottom).

Windsurfed off of New Brighton today up to Pleasure Point and back. Not much wind so was on my Angulo 10'-10" and had my Ezzy Cheetah 7.0. It was a nice leisurely jaunt with a wave caught here and there. Pumping was involved.

Something that may be interesting is the number of sightseeing boats visiting the waters right off of New Brighton Beach. Seems we have become Shark City with the number of great white sharks seen at any one time as high as 40. When I first got to the launch, two boats were cruising looking for sharks. I took a pic. At the bottom of the pic, the sawhorse signs contain shark warnings posted on them.

I cruised around looking for the shark, but saw none. Water was not as clear today as it was the day of the drone video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh39JL6LyHo

Nice session on the foil this Friday just past noon. Wind was 12-15 which was perfect for the 5.2 Flyer. Did a downwinder to Hunters Point past the pier towards the shipping lane where tankers park. The upwind angle on a foil is incredible..you're almost sailing straight into the wind. Sailed an hour and half perfecting my jibes and working on quick tacks on the JP 135.
My wife worries about me always sailing alone. To allay her fears I told her that I met a sailing buddy named Wilson. He's kinda quiet, never complains, and best of all, he's is not a Trump loving Republican..which pleases my wife Laughing

I think I might try that next time it's a minus tide. Is there a wind shadow from the bluff?

No. The WSW wind is actually stronger close to the bluff than outside.

Good crowd at Coyote Point this Saturday. Wind was 17 on the inside and close to 20 further out when I launched the foil at 1 pm with 4.7 Naish Force. Flood chop was good size and I should have rigged 4.2 but with all the time I've put on the foil I was to handle the conditions , make all my jibes and stay dry. After an hour I came in, took a break, talked story with the other windsurfers. Later I took out the Kona Carbone longboard with the 4.7 and sailed for another half hour. I was planing on the big board when others were slogging on much bigger sails. Made for a satisfying day..my 85th sailing for this season Cool

Hi Bert,

I enjoy your session reports and the pics add a nice touch to them.
Admire your willingness to travel on a windsurfer and experience that adventure. Plus you sail many different places.
Your gear quiver must be the envy of many.
Alas, I have only 70 sessions in this year to your 85. For me though, this is probably my best year ever. So, happy I am.
