My 2 cents, I don't think the problem is the high boom. Gomez says in a gust he heads upwind and then the problem starts, I think he's falling off the back of the board as he tries to head upwind.
When overpowered try to commit more to hanging off the harness and leaning your body further out but not back and if you want to head upwind your body will need to actually come forward towards the front of the board.
It's in your stance, when perfectly balanced and on a beam reach your front leg should be rather straight while you back knee should be bent a bit. The front leg is pushing the nose of the board downwind countering the effect of having the mast raked back while going fast which makes you head upwind.
I think the whole issue is not leaning out and committing to the harness fully. |

Moving the footstraps outboard should fix the problem.
Having the footstraps inboard on a wide board is like having the seat super low on a bicycle. Easy to get to, but hard to stay attached to if you're actually trying to go fast. _________________ James' Blog: Windsurfing Equipment Size Calculator

An update:
I tried lowering the boom and moving the footstraps outboard, increased downhaul and also commited more to the harness and I felt a significant improvement in my control and didnt slip out this time.
It may be too early to say but I feel like the problem is solved
Thanks everyone for your inputs. |

now that you've moved the straps outward, try moving your boom up a few cm at a time. once you've changed the geometry of your stance with one thing, you've got to make sure it balances with everything else. if your front leg is bent, esp going upwind, then you will need to raise the boom. if it getting pulled out and the leg is straight, boom down. _________________ www.aerotechsails.com
