So why isn't the Delta blowing with all the fog?
Did it get to cold in the Sacramento valley?
Short answer: There was a Golden Gate eddy yesterday and sometimes it pushes the surface wind SW deep into the Bay and over San Pablo Bay into the Delta which favors Sherman Island. Other times the eddy pushes the wind SSW which shunts much of the wind into Napa Valley stealing Sherman Island of its thunder.
Yesterday was weird since the eddy winds was SW at dawn so Sherman Island blew. Then mid morning the eddy winds turned SSW at San Pablo Bay and Sherman winds faded away. If you compare the wind graphs for Sherman Island and San Pablo Bay you can easily see the correlation.
At this point I can usually forecast the development of the Golden Gate eddy 12 hours in advance which tells you there is a good chance of Sherman Island winds. But so far I cannot determine if its winds will be SW or SSW. So your best bet before making the drive is looking at: 1. satellite imagery and see if there is a finger of fog moving into the Napa Valley... if so abort. 2. Look at the San Pablo Bay sensor graph is holding SW or showing SSW shifts. If it is SW you are probably safe to make the drive.
