I know this is not as well known a race board as a Mistral Equipe or Fanatic Mega Cat, but can any of you provide some insight as to how this might perform as a light-wind race board for a 190lb sailor? It is less voluminous than either of the aforementioned boards (210L compared to ~250L), but other dimensions are pretty comparable. One is up for sale close by and I'm interested... its going for noticeably less $$ than a Equipe or Cat from a similar era. Would likely be using it in sub-planing to 15mph winds on flat water.

Don't hold me to this but recall that Alpha re-badged the old 210L version Fanatic Ultra Cat as their own. Think the mast track was updated to the same used on the then current Fanatic models.

If it's in nice shape and close by for a low price then go for it! Anything that gets you more quality time out on the water is a good buy.

Will add that for a big guy with a big rig in light air, the more volume the better. Raceboards of that era quickly went over 250L+ for a reason.

Note on volume: My Kona One is 220 liters and floats my 210-lb. carcass like a cork, probably float two of me. Theoreticaly 210 liters will float 462 lbs.

i have the earlier Fanatic Ultra CAT - my FUC board Smile
it is 210 liters and also has plenty of flotation for my heavy `carcass`
so, flotation should be NO issue on that Alpha
how well it performs - i donut know
