Well maybe these will work for you

SummerFreak in 7.5m

The Summer Freak is a custom sail you will have to order.
All the Freaks can be rigged very full and since they only have 3/4 battens in the boom area the sail will flip easily.

Again, would any of these longboard-friendly sails allow to replace an 8.5 with a 6.5 or a 7.0 sail for sub-planing on shortboard like the Bic Core 293, until I buy a true longboard?

Thank you

If I used the Zenith 7.4 on my current Bic 293 instead of a longboard, for which it is ideally designed, would it give me the same power/efficiency in light winds on the Bic or would I have to step up the size?

THanks

The Zenith on the Bic or on a longboard will have the same efficiency. It will work great or your 293 too. In my book, the 293 is not a shortboard but a longboard, or hybrid, for kids.

And opposite to what you said in the last post, a big sail is easier to handle in more than less wind. If the wind is very light, you have to try to balance the sail or support it by yourself. It gets tiring. In reasonable planing conditions, the wind and the harness do all the work if the sail has appropriate size.

If you are looking for the great glide you had in the 80's, you should find such a rig. I still use my 6.0 in very light wind for that reason.

sub plane only: wind SUP 5.8 sail from aerotech

occasional planing air x 7.0 or 6.4

either line is budget.
