|
|
Hi folks, I am looking for some very unique data and am having a hard time finding what I want. Figured that you guys chase wind so rather than dig through hours of data I would be lazy and ask a few questions of the community.
I am seeking places in Florida and California that winds are very light in the early morning hours. I am particularly interested in the areas around South Florida from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West and then again around the Tarpon Springs area.
Mostly interested in areas that are fairly calm in the early morning hours. Any thoughts or help would be great! Thanks! |

I spent a lot of time sailing in Florida. It was well known that key west had very little wind. |

San Diego, Ca.
Born and raised there, used to go for the morning glass surfing, or water skiing almost all year long.
The weather is hard to beat, warm, mild, w/o Florida's humidity or hurricanes, or flatness, there's mountains there! |

All of Southern California south from Santa Barbara to the Mexican border has calm to very light winds in the morning hours. Even afternoons are generally not that windy in most areas, particularly in the San Diego area like NW30 mentioned. That said, there can be strong winds associated with weather fronts in the winter and spring months, both before (SE) and after (NW) the front. The only exception with morning winds is during a Santa Ana wind event. They happen most frequently in the morning hours during the fall months when a strong high pressure area sets up in the 4 Corners area of the South West. However, Santa Ana winds tend to be very localized, and they are concentrated only in a few select areas below mountain passes and canyons. |
