Black Suspect Arrested After Racist Message Discovered Outside Predominately Black Church
June 30, 2015 5:05 PM
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)– A Colorado Springs man was arrested after police believe he left racist messages outside a church.
Vincent Broughton, 44, who is black, is facing charges for committed a bias-motivated crime and disorderly conduct.
The signs were posted outside the New Covenant church that is predominately attended by African Americans. One sign references the KKK. Another reads, “Black men beware, you are the target.”
The messages had the congregation on edge.
“We locked our doors this morning, so we were inside, but it shouldn’t be that way. You shouldn’t have to lock your doors in the church, it’s just… I’m speechless,” said Pastor Roland Joyner.
Police said Broughton admitted to posting the flyers but did not explain why he targeted the church.

No, but I just had two hours of beautiful light wind, side on, front side, down the line riding practice. Had the place all to myself. 😋 |

wow is that CBS report misleading.... If it turns out not to be racial I think all the reports and the editors producers should be fired. Took me 2 minutes to find other parts of the story that are missing...
First these signs were not any type of threat.. they were really strange. Do you moron right wingers ever use your brains to at least do a smell test.... It did not look threatening or overtly racist to me if put up by a black. It told me black men should watch their backs... which they should from all police in racist cities.
I know my black step brother is concerned and watches his back.
Here is a quote from a different reporter that interviewed this black man who has been putting his signs up all over town..
Quote: |
11 News asked Broughton why he would do something like that. He tells 11 News he's angry at a police officer who attends the church for something that happened years ago.
He wasn't completely clear when he answered our questions. But he said he wanted to get a message out.
"I didn't mean to come off to, to threaten anybody," said Broughton. "It's just to let people know that there are, there is and there are racist people in our community who are out there to destroy the unity of America."
Broughton told 11 News police took away all of his posters, so he won't be putting anymore up.
You'll remember we told you about an 11 News viewer who saw our report about the posters and put up positive signs on the tree to replace Broughton's flyers.

And then there is your favorite MSNBC just hoping that the church burning wasn't a lightening strike, you can tell by their headline and first sentance.

You guys keep grasping at straws:
Quote: | The Ku Klux Klan has been approved to hold a protest rally at the Statehouse next month against removing the Confederate battle flag, with the group calling accused mass murderer Dylann Roof a “young warrior.”
The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan applied for the permit last week to hold a rally for 100 to 200 people on July 18 on the north side of the Statehouse.
That’s where the Confederate battle flag presently flies.
Brian Gaines, spokesman for the S.C. Budget and Control Board, said the state provides rally space at the Statehouse site when space is available or previously not reserved.
The move was not endorsed by Gov. Nikki Haley. “This is our state, and they are not welcome,” she said in a statement issued by her press office.
In its application permit, the Klan lists equipment needs as a podium and public address access. The group is headquartered out of Pelham, N.C.
Robert Jones, grand dragon for the group, said on Monday that the Klan is a civil rights organization dedicated to white culture and history as symbolized by the rebel banner.
During a phone interview, Jones gave words of support for Roof, saying he erred in going after black people while they worshipped. On the Klan group’s telephone answering machine is a recorded message that refers to Roof as a warrior.
Roof, 21, of Eastover is charged with nine counts of murder in the June 17 shooting at Emanuel AME Church.
All the victims were black; Roof is white, and has reportedly promoted white supremacist activity in his writings and on the Internet.
Officials have labeled the attack a hate crime.
“He was heading in the right direction; wrong target,” Jones said. “He should have actually aimed at the African-American gang-bangers, the ones who are selling the drugs to white youth, the ones who are robbing and raping every chance they get.”
The rally is slated from 3 to 5 p.m. July 18.
In the wake of the killings, Haley last week called for bringing down the Confederate flag from the Statehouse grounds, something that is up to lawmakers. Legislators are expected to return to Columbia next month to make the flag a priority.

Bunker logic. | remember the anthrax poison letters to the dems. you right wingers blamed the Muslims and were ready to send nukes. So much so that the right wing terrorist trail went dry, by the in-compitent right wingers hoping it was Iraq or similar.
But when the terrorists are right wingers like McVeigh, the waco in Waco, church shooters and new church shooter, they are heros to the right wingers. _________________ when good people stay silent the right wing are the only ones heard. |
