quite a few "things" of interest

- the foil looks like an aeroplane with the wing tip bent
- it can hydrofoil even when used as a SUP
- as AHD explains it is about light wind more than high speed

in the first video presented by hilton08
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7-CCKEDyYw
all the windsurfers in the video were schlogging
in the description they talk about winds under 10 knots
"wind 5 to 7 knots
110 liters & 7m sail"
personally i have NEVER planed under 10 knots
and 110 liters with 7-oh is used in about 20 knot winds !!!
and so , perhaps these "things" are more amazing than interesting Smile
to me that is Very Happy

Sure beats waiting on the shore for the winds to pick up while watching liters have all the fun!

Doesn't really mean a whole lot. We don't know what size gear the other sailors were on or what their skill level is. The guy on the foil board is clearly a skilled sailor. A decent sailor on formula gear can easily plane in under 10 MPH breeze. It would be much more interesting to see the foil board go head to head against a formula board, each board having sailors of equal skill and comparing the ability to get on plane/foil, go upwind, downwind, and max speeds.

Seems...
F-76 denotes a pretty good sailor.
Everyone else except the kid is a rec intermediate at best.
Most any body of water, the best sailor is the only one planing or the fastest in the water.
