The saga of Lake Hodges ( what was San Diego County's most reliable summer sailing spot) continues....

The guys are doing a great job pushing the issue.
They called in "Turko" as they thought they had got over the last hurdle months ago only to be stone-walled by the bureaucracy.

looks like a "no body contact" thing there;
are there designated swimming areas at
that location???

There is no swimming at hodges but the "no body contact" rule if it exists never applied to windsurfers at Hodges - windsurfing was very active for many years until the dam construction took place. Of course a no body contact rule is farcical as Hodges receives run-off from urban areas and the surrounding land.

After the construction was complete the hold-up was that they wanted a CPR trained ranger on site as windsurfing was a dangerous sport(!), and there was no budget for that. As per the video that road-block was solved earlier this year.

Kudos to the local group of windsurfers, and kudos to Turko.

Today was another great day at the lake. What a shame:

Kudos for all the hard work guys. Just last week I was mountain biking out by the old "concession" area. Boy there sure isn't much water there these days. It always was a short reach but it's even shorter now!

The previous two winters have featured particularly paltry rainfall totals across most of CA. I know that SD always has embarrasingly low annual rainfall totals, but maybe the last two years have been even more deserty than normal there?

I dunno about that. I know that they had so much water last year that the lake was wet even on the east side of 15. Now it's been dry over there for quite some time. Regardless, it would be nice to have the option.
