Coming from Maine: Been renting houses in Salvo every April for the last 20 years but with the recent political antics coming out of NC, I'm ready to try something else... Are there other places like the Outer Banks (windy and cheap in April) further down the coast in South Carolina or Georgia? |

Not really. There are some barrier islands, but nothing that sits out as far from the mainland coast, and nothing that gets the same sort of clean wind from any direction. What politics are you concerned about? |

Yea, do not let the nonsense affect your windsurfing vacation plans down here. Hatteras still the best spot on the US East Coast for windsurfing of any flavor and regardless of the "politics" there is always a place to windsurf.
No one is going to mess with a windsurfer in Hatteras blasting on the sound or hitting the lip in the ocean.
Fun times only!

North Carolina in April is a GOOD DEAL. Good times, good friends, good sailing. Don't give up on OBX yet |

The Outer Banks are the best place on the East Coast for sailing and kiting. I agree that the current administration in the NC statehouse is trying to suppress minority and low income voters- the Republicans realize that if they don't do this they will lose every election.
But let's not let those foolish politicians interfere with the best sailing on the east coast!
I plan to visit NC in April as usual as long as NC12 is intact. |

there are 1000's of sound front houses from nags head to ocracoke that you can rent and have your own private soundfront launch. or if you are camping in your car..there are plenty of places to launch even if the park nazi's have erected silly barriers to popular parking lots. |

And please let's not pollute the East Coast forum with political opinions. There is a separate Forum for that. |
