Both the tops and the bottoms of feet -- or one or the other or neither -- have arches to some degree. I'm a neither, and I can't be that unique even though I have to shorten the shoelaces by up to a foot on most shoes. We "neithers" have little or even no hump or "stop" on the tops of our feet, so our front footstrap adjustment is critical. Mere millimeters in length make the difference between toes vs the whole foot entering the strap. We may have to adjust front strap length several times ion one session, on the water, to get it right ... then occasionally have to start over if our feet shrink or swell a bit.

BTW ... if your orthotics are for overpronation, recent large studies show that orthotics and buying shoes according to foot "type" -- flat, normal, highly arched, overpronated, etc. -- actually increase injury rates. Medical advice now is to just buy cheap neutral shoes. Unless you're very happy and injury-free with your orthotics and with their cost, you might want to see this article at
http://www.runblogger.com/2012/09/why-term-overpronation-should-be.html
and pursue that research further. (My wet footrpint is more or less a rectangle and my feet "overpronate" quite obviously, but my feet have always been trouble-free despite many doctors telling me I need orthotics or motion-control shoes. )

PLEASE post a photo of the foot that has both NEITHER top or bottom arch...PLEASE, did it come from a pancake box

thanks so much for the orthotic advise, I will file in the appropriate folder, sports medicine Doctors and chiropractors must be out of the loop, along with those who test shoes

BTW Iam having a prob still with this::

What I am having a prob with is how any strap ADJUSTMENT would help in any manner with a flat foot, since all the adjustments are either length and curvature of the upper strap, neither of which IMO effect the flat foot, which is of course on the BOTTOM of the foot.

can you clarify how the adjustment positions help the foot on the BOTTOM..?

I’ve explained the footstrap vs arch issue at least 6-8 times already, 3 or 4 just in my last post.

And if I described even a quarter of the instances in which a long list of general and specialist medical providers -- let alone salesmen -- have given me bad ... sometimes horrible ... advice due to ignorance of the evidence-based, peer-reviewed medical research they are morally and legally bound to follow, I’d be guilty of my first major thread hijacking even though it was for your benefit. We must do our own medical (and legal) homework or suffer the consequences, even in life and death matters. That will only get worse as we have fewer doctors treating more patients.

I would call that answer backpedal, change the tune, decline to explain my statements, umm cause I did already, but its ok for me to make the statements I just don't want/cant back them up

thanks so much for having my interest in the orthotics

I, and every other unemotional reader, would call it, "I don't know how to make it any clearer."

this what you do, call other people emotional, so that their thinking cant be categorized as rational.

this is what you do, make statements , cant substantiate them with anything like a fact, say things like I have already explained this, when its so obvious that you luv to have yourself write, write , write,

yet say nothing , and you expect me to value your opinions, on feet or anything

Why does every thread here seemingly go down hill lol. Anyways I talked to Juerg last night and he said we got two orders for the Kolvaski straps. Hopefully you guys find them to your liking!
